In the past few weeks, Shubhankar Bera, Christopher pan, Luke Cartwright and I worked together on our group case study: Ed Hardy. The purpose of this report is to illustrate how our group worked as a team. There are 3 important points will be focusing on this report, contribution from each group member, how the group worked as a team, skills and attributes I have gained from group members and myself reflection as a team member. Firstly, contribution from each team member. My contribution for this project is to find out what factors caused the corporate Ed Hardy collapsed and why these factors can lead this brand in Australia to bankruptcy. According to Simon Wallace-Smith, the administrator in Ed hardy, said the collapse was ''brought about by slowing sales and the competitive nature of the retail industry''. Not only, but also I have made a great quality of information research on websites, list lots of possible factors that can affect …show more content…
The major benefit of working in a team for me was that it promoted learning and improved my understanding of the case study. I have definitely learned more about the case from other members than I would do it as individual work. Discussion can exchange our thoughts to expand our knowledge. After researching and discussing, my previous understanding has been extended. In group meeting and online communication, we discussed background, history, culture of the company, it really assists me a lot in understand the case and recognize the situation of the brand. If the case study is an individual project, I would spend much time for doing background research for the company. The group communication saved time for me to dig deep research for factors that cause corporate bankrupt. At the same time, I learned other 3 new ways of thinking to analyze problems. Also, not just in communication, but in research, I should no longer just accept views but think
Also working in a team give people the chance to be supportive with each other and help one another.
Importance of teamwork is that when a team works well together they tend to understand their team members strengths and weaknesses. Strong teamwork can benefit from the team members and I say this because they become more capable at splitting up tasks so that they are accomplished by the members of the team that are more highly qualified. If businesses didn’t have strong teamwork within their business, it could make everything a lot harder for managers of the business to settle certain staff members, whom can fulfil tasks at their incomparable standard.
From my experience at Managed Water Services Ltd a benefit from working in a team is creativity. Being in a team means we can brainstorm ideas as a group. Combining everyone’s ideas creates a more effective solution. Individual experiences are completely different to those of others so teamwork also maximizes shared knowledge and helps you learn new skills.
It is essential to have teamwork within a company. Companies who have embraced the concept of teamwork have reported increased performance in work production, problem solving and it has stimulated new growth. This group project approach has improved employee morale and increased input when managed correctly. The benefits of teamwork can make a positive effect in the company that incorporates this type of teamwork approach.
Teams have become very common and effective since they have proven to be effective in areas as cost reduction, developing new and innovative products, and improving quality (Effective Human relation, 2008). Team development is supported, in fact, required by almost all managements today, but still it may take quite a long time for the members to learn the task and activities and to fit themselves in the particular environment. Team work may vary as the organization or company varies. Team work involves a lot of important aspects such as relationships, cooperation, learning, leadership etc. since a team works together in
It’s always good to start investing money at an early age, however, it’s a hard start. Many banks have improved interest rates as well as no opening fees to start a savings account. Stocks, such as health and technology are also currently going up. Billy should start by saving small amounts of money per week for two years and placing it in a savings account. He should also buy health and tech stocks, such as Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) and International Business Machines Corporation (IBM), and keep a diversified portfolio, along with buying bonds.
It is important to work as part of team as this can only gain better results, you can listen to other people and their ideas and also share your own ideas and experiences. Working as a team can also reduce your own work load through sharing good practice, sharing worksheets, saving time preparing your own worksheets for your class. Everyone within your team will know what the target goal is and work together to achieve it. Relationships between staff within your team will get stronger and you will feel valued and this will help build your confidence and self esteem. When you work together there is consistency therefore if a
C. Padmore discussed “Teamwork” was discussed amongst staff. Staff was given a handout on “Teamwork” Staff also offered up a few examples of teamwork.
The use of teams in a workplace enhances employee communications. Team work requires some type of collective action that is grounded in words and actions. (University of Phoenix, Apollo Library, 2007). In effective teams, there is a sharing of information and ideas that improves communication within a team and between the team and the company for which they are employed. (University of Phoenix, 2007). In the Effective Team Work Starts with Good Communication article by Adkins, B, (2005), it is stated that "there is a checklist that can be used to provide ideas for communication within your team or this checklist can be used as springboard for developing your own team
Nice response. I agree that the doctor completed disregarded the ethical codes and violated the trust of the client. You made s good point that the supervisor should review all of Dr. Hardy’s clients and the case load. If the doctor was so easy to do this in front of her client, she must have done this dozens of times before. If the supervisor finds a significant number of wrongfully billed services by the doctor, then she should be fired. She is basically steeling money from the insurance company. If she had moral values she would not wrongfully bill clients and even be confronted tell the client to go along with it. I wonder what the doctor would do if the client reiterated that the dates and number of services were wrong. What
They can be an excellent source of job satisfaction, inthat team members are frequently empowered to handle many of the things that directly affect their work. In addition, work teams are an effective way for management to enhance employee involvement, increase morale and to promote work force diversity.
This novel written by Keith Sawyer held so much information on how to better group interactions- anyone can walk away from this book with broader outlook on creating a “Group Genius”. Sawyer has laid out all of these great concepts and ideas in front of readers. It was an amazing way to express the possibilities that both, groups and teams can achieve. Whether these be small or big business teams, one or a couple inventors beginning their story or a sports team- all of these groups can apply what Sawyer has written, into their work and group atmosphere. A group has the choice to take these skills and adapt them into their own experiences, it can all spark from just one person making a change. I learned a lot
Teamwork can be complex and challenging given task and interpersonal issues, level of group motivation and expected performance standards. The concrete experience spoken about in this reflection piece is in reference to the effectiveness of myself as a group member and the group, working to write a report outlining the organisation and structure of Volkswagen. Dennison (2009) applies Kolb’s learning cycle (1981, 1984) which suggests that learning moves through a continuous cycle, between having an experience, and then reflecting on that action. This cycle has been developed from Lewin’s (1951) model for experiential learning. Reflection termed by Boud, Keogh and Walker (1985) ‘is a forum of response to the learner to experience’(p. 18). On reflection, the early set group dynamics was a defining factor in the experience, and how the team conducted themselves throughout the task. Meyerson, Wick and Kramer (1996) note that ‘such rapidly converging groups require methods for developing “swift trust”’ (p. 8), which can explain why initial group dynamics are so important. I took on multiple team roles, including group leader, which could be translated into the team not performing collectively on a high level, however, I could view this as a personal ineffectiveness of my leadership style.
When this course started, I didn’t know what to expect. Quickly did I learn that it was more than just about a single individual and his or her ideas and behaviours. As the course progressed, I learned that it was very important to understand how small groups work. Reflecting upon my personal journey with my group, I have learnt that working in small groups requires commitment, synergy, communication, listening, conflict resolution and decision making and problem solving. This brings me upon my personal journey with my small group and how I have learned to work in such an environment.
A team is a group of people working together to achieve the same objectives. Katzenbach and Smith state in their report The Discipline of Teams (1993) that ‘the essence of a team is common commitment. Without it, groups perform as individuals; with it, they become a powerful unit of collective performance.’ Throughout this study, I will analyse the many different advantages and disadvantages of working in teams and its effects on team members and their performance and commitment within the team. I will consider many different aspects of team work and refer to certain established theories in
