Success can be interpreted in various ways through many diverse perspectives. Each individual has his or her own definition of success and perceives it differently and all explanations vary from person to person. Most people may say that success is achieving materialistic goals by following certain procedures. “Success is achieving something where it is a goal or getting to a certain point in life or a task” (Sarah Felten). To me, success is not just about attaining materialistic goals, like becoming rich. Success depends on how the goals are achieved. Success should be acquired the right way. Reaching success should not bring harm to you or to others. Success is not just reaching remarkable goals, it is about doing remarkable things on the …show more content…
I competed in the “Middle Level Spreadsheet Applications” event. Using what I learned in Digital Design class that year, I practiced and prepared for the test and producing the spreadsheets. When it was time to take the test, I completed two out of the three parts of the test due to time constraints that I learned about during the test. I got third place in Polk County in my event. My Digital Design teacher and FBLA coordinator at my middle school, Mr. Patterson informed me that I was only a few points away from getting first place and if I had completed the last part of the test I would have gotten it. I took the test again to see if I would place at the state conference, but unfortunately I did not place. The following year, in eighth grade, I competed in spreadsheets again and using my prior knowledge of the time constraints I would encounter, I finished all the parts of the test. That year, I got first place in the Polk County, which qualified me to take a different version of the spreadsheet test. That test would determine if I would place at the state conference. Using my time wisely again, I ended up placing first place in the state of Florida in “Middle Level Spreadsheet Applications”. My teacher later told me that my spreadsheets were made perfectly and my scores were larger than and not even close to the scores of the other competitors. Through my experiences, I learned that to be successful some vital qualities you need are to be determined, hard working, and use your time wisely. After placing third in the district and not placing at state, I learned from my mistake of taking my time and not being able to finish the last part and earn those few points. Learning from my past experience, I was able to achieve first place in the state of Florida. Unfortunately, there were no nationals for middle school Future Business Leaders of America so I did
Success in an ideal that varies from person to person. While most people may believe that success is owning a big house, owning multiple cars, or having lots of money, that is not true for many people. For example, a soccer players’ success may be winning an international title, a singer might feel successful after winning a Grammy. To me, success is fulfilling a long-term goal which for some people may be money and material items. However, my ideals of success revolve around my happiness and that of those around me, some of my successes will include graduating college and getting a job that pays well, or living a healthy balanced life, I also feel success when helping others achieve their own successes.
The definition of success may vary depending on who you ask. many believe that the only way to succeed is to have a lot of money; however, there others that believe just having a roof over your head when going to sleep would be considered successful. I am one of those believers. I believe if you have a bed to go sleep at night, food on the dinner table, a healthy family you are considered successful. Every American would love to live the “American dream” which considers a well-paying job, a beautiful house and an amazing family. Happiness is a big factor where I got my definition from. People strive to achieve their goals and when they do reach their goals they become a happy person. No matter what their goal maybe as long as they complete
Success. What is success? If it to you it means simply,” to achieve the goals one sets out to accomplish,” then you may think similar to my good friend Jonny. Or you could be like my game crazy friend Beebe and define it as,” how many head shots [he] can get in one round.” Either way I guess you would be correct. However, I feel like more and more people are starting to believe the Webster dictionary version “of getting or achieving wealth, respect, or fame.” Not that this is a bad thing but people like my parents generation are starting to think this version of success is college degrees and good paying jobs.
What does it mean to be successful? Many account successfulness as the amount of accomplishments they have completed, while others account successfulness as personal gain or personal accomplishment. For instance, one person may not have completely accomplish a report, goal, or anything in general, but he/she will argue that they maintained a successful progression, and wherever they ended is still successful. Also, there are people who like to generalize the idea of success, and don’t accommodate the broader idea of success. For instance, they can make arguments that it doesn’t matter what you do or don’t do, they still consider living, breathing, thinking, and other small details as success. Then, there are people who believe that success
What is success? I know this is a question that we have been asked so many times in our life and we get sick of hearing it. But think about it one more time. What is success? The only thing is for certain is that their is no wrong answer. There are as many definitions of success as their are people on this planet. Success can mean different things to different people. To some success is having a good job, a lot of money, or being able to have everything that you desire. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary Online, the word success means “degree or measure of succeeding. Favorable or desired outcome; also: the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence” (“Success”). However, I find this definition to be overly simplistic, because first of, it says “measure of succeeding” but what is success? I believe success is more than the attainment of money or fame; success is when we achieved a point of desired happiness in our life regardless of fame or wealth. James Geoffrey, says, “If you believe success is simply making (or having) a lot of money, you may be setting yourself up for failure” (09 April, 2012). Implying that money is not always the key of success but may in fact set you up for failure more than
When it comes time to defining success there are plenty of ways that success can be put into a definition. The main definition that I go by for the word success is that if you aren’t doing a career that makes you happy no matter what they pay grade is then you have not reach success. The definition that I provided means that it doesn’t always have to be about making a certain wage but what you are doing in life it needs to be a career you are excited to do every morning. You a person become successful or have success you will see it in their face because they will be more than happy to work at any time or even work over time, if they have too. Success is something that, you, as a human have to have set in your mind, heart, and passion to know
I define success by being financially stable and loved by my friends and family. I believe that for a person to be successful, they need to be happy with every aspect of their life; this ranges from work, social, and at home. I believe that hard work will pay off in one form or another. I plan on being successful by absorbing as much as I can in school, and then apply what I learned in the workforce. My graduation goal is to obtain a bachelor in finance and MBA in business. At the same time, I would be around thirty hours shy of my criminal justice degree. I won’t rest until I obtain my educational goals. I plan on taking around fifteen to twenty hours a semester and doing a few hours in the summer. I usually like to spend my time in the library
