There are all kind of feeling that are transpiring throughout my mind when think of the term cultural analysis. In executing the communication concepts of African American cultural, I found that the Chinese and African American cultural are strongly tied to their beliefs and family concepts. I define myself through my culture as being an African American male, thought out religions, education, and family is very essential in my culture. Also, being limited to making lifestyle changes, and the different ways we communicated with each other are how I define myself through my culture. Being African American my perception of my culture is that we as a community are high in health, crime, education, and public housing, which implies welfare, government assists, black on black crime, and drug abuse. Being an African American, other cultures have a better chance at getting better jobs, education, and opportunities in life.
As an African-American male growing up in my community, religion is everything to one’s existence. Frequency of prayer, attendance at religious services, and religion’s importance in life. For example, just as in general, African-Americans who are more religiously observant are more likely to oppose abortion, racism, homosexuality and more likely to report higher levels of conservative ideology. We are more likely to believe in God with absolute certainty, express a belief in angels and demons, and to us believe in the scripture as the literal word of the lord. Within my household my parents instilled within me that there’s life after death and to always believe in miracles though god. As among the general population when it comes to religion and its views on social issues such as homosexuality and abortion are strongly believed that it’s a sin and that the person will be commanded to hell for part-taking with them. The culture that I’m choosing to analyze is the Chinese culture. My perceptions of their cultures are that the Chinese are very family orientated, highly intelligent, and very hard workers. I presuppose that to be part of their culture worldview is that of which is timeless. The Chinese continue to shape the 21st century through their perceptions of the world.

Cultural immersion is an essential part of the education experience. It has been used throughout time to allow people to understand those whose ideas and beliefs differ from their own. The experiences gained through immersing in an unfamiliar culture allow the mind to grow in ways that are beyond comprehension. Because our nation is advancing, and merging ides from other cultures, this process is more important than ever. Cynthia Kratzke and Melissa Bertolo (2013) state that if we only teach concepts and language from other cultures we are limiting the ability of future generations to be able to work with other cultures (p.1). Cultural immersion is a way for one to reach a new insight they may not have otherwise gained. Jesus Nieto (2006) says there are main goals to these experiences: 1) to interact with people of a different culture 2) to gain insight into aspects of others 3) to be of a minority group in a setting 4) to gain a new perspective on one’s own beliefs and values (p. 77).
This past semester we have discussed four separate and different societies and cultures. Throughout this reflection essay, I will reflect what culture is and what I have learned what culture is based on this course. As well discuss what I have learned from each of the units. Also, reflect on the course and how the class has helped me develop and transform my academic skills.
A cultural analysis is a combination of many elements. Cultures have traditions, customs, habits, beliefs, practices, and values. Each culture can have different traditions in their own essence. These traditions can come from their ancestors and passed down generations. However, some people don’t like to continue their ancestors traditions and adapt others customs from another culture. The culture change depending on the time and place. The enrichment of cultures consists of adaptation and acceptance of another culture's beliefs. Not all of the people can tolerate other cultures, traditions, languages or stereotypes. Cultures attack or support other cultural values The Mexican culture is hard-working and are strict in their values
The girls I see this evening are young teens who are wearing too much makeup trying to be seen by the young boys who are wearing expensive sneakers and saggy pants. A few of the young girls I see are young mothers pushing baby strollers and conversing

The theme in my painting is the obstacles people face when trying to achieve a goal. The message my painting communicates is to be weary of the unseen dangers when attempting to reach an objective. My intention was for the viewer to see an image that seems simple but in reality contains a story that is up to the interpretation of whoever is looking at it. In my painting the seagulls are intended to represent a plan or a vision, the person on the boat is supposed to represent the person viewing the painting, the wind blowing the boat represents destiny, the animals and coconuts on the island represents wealth, the anchor represents doubt, the ocean represents life, the island represents success and the giant shark represents failure.
The cultural group I identify with is Caribbean American. I was born in Brooklyn, New York and am first generation American. My parents were born in Trinidad, both my grandmothers were born in Trinidad and my grandfather was born in Tobago. Trinidad is a collective culture that put family first and America is an individualist culture that requires one to put their selves first. My parents raised me like a Trinidad would up bring their child in Trinidad. I am very familiar with Trinidad food, music, beliefs, family roles and gender roles. In spite of this, I identify as a black American as well. I embrace the American culture and the black race because I was born in America. Growing up in America, I learn to accept all cultures and races. America is extremely diverse and part of the American culture is exploring and learning about different
Culture itself plays a big role in our everyday lives, many people assume that culture is tied to race but that is simply not the case anymore specifically when speaking on behalf of the people that populate the U.S. For example we can take a person from California and place him in a great job in Texas. While he may be a qualified person for the job he would stick out like a sore thumb due to the fact that culturally he simply would not fit in regardless of race. Here in this country we have so many cultures because of race and because of the fact that different regions have different environments, which is why derogative terms often derive from people seeing others in
I love working as a wedding and engagement photographer. Have I mentioned that before? Anyway, the enjoyment factor goes up at least a notch or two when the couple is fun, and they are themselves during their engagement photography session. I just love working with genuine couples who aren’t afraid to let me get to know them and who really want their personalities to show through during the session. That was definitely the case when I recently worked with Mindy Nicholson and Riley Webb during their engagement photography session.
The cultural assignment allowed me to gain a new perspective on the differences of others. I have grown up in a household of dissimilar belief systems. My mom is a dedicated Christian while my dad is unassociated with any religious beliefs. Though, he grew up as a Jehovah’s Witness. There differing belief systems have been the cause of various conflicts within their relationship. I often wondered if people with contradicting beliefs could effectively and peacefully discuss their belief systems. This cultural experience showed me that a peaceful discussion is possible between individuals of dissimilar beliefs.
Upon completion of this course, in additional to all of the life experiences I have been involved in over the semester, I have gained valuable insights in regard to my cultural background. While gathering information for the ancestor writing assignment, correspondingly choosing Ikebana as the topic for an occupation evidence paper, I discovered how and why Japanese culture has influenced over my family’s cultural identity. By reason of my mother's side of the family whom resided in Taiwan during and likely before the period between 1895 and 1945, while Taiwan was under Japanese rule and was a dependency of the Empire of Japan. This was a new discovery which, given a fresh perception on my own cultural background as a whole.
The paper is based on the following questions asked by my advisor, Dr. Larry G.Murphy
All cultures are different and with that different morals and experiences growing up and in daily life. In the past few weeks we have learned about a multitude of different cultures and the experiences and bias that they go through. I think every culture has bias against them in one way or another but some have it immensely worse than others. I think every culture influences heavily the beliefs and experiences of the people in the culture when they are growing up because it is all they know and all they have experienced. As people grow older some stay strictly with the beliefs of their parents and family but other start developing new beliefs but their culture will always be with them and influence their experiences and decisions in life.
There have been significant events throughout my life that has influenced, impacted, and changed my ways of thinking, both when I was younger, and as I have reached middle age. When I was nine years old, my family moved from Coeur d’Alene Idaho to Juneau Alaska when my father started a new position at a recently built HUD Housing apartment complex that helped with low-income households. Upon moving there, this was my first experience with Native Americans and experience racism and poverty at levels I had never experienced before. Growing up, my family was poor, but I had never realized it, for my parents tried to raise my brother and myself differently. There were times when I lived in Idaho when I would play with my friend, and his parents made comments, but I did not think much at the time.
During the course of this semester I expanded my cultural experiences on and off campus. From learning about my peers’ cultural artifacts in class to visiting a religious institution I’ve never been to, I was able to diversify my knowledge on the people around me. Having the exposure to cultural experiences that are new to me made me have a stronger appreciation for the diversity in America. With this knowledge, I will have more acceptances towards other and truly be able to teach towards equity and diversity in my future classroom. Over the past couple of weeks I was able to arrange a visit with my friend to a Hindu temple that she attends with her family. This is a place that I wouldn’t normally go to, but it gave me the opportunity to engage with people that hold different beliefs than my own. My experience was extremely humbling and a great experience to have, especially as a future educator.
