The career I have decided to arrange research on is a cosmetologist. Cosmetologists earn a license for several reasons. Some cosmetologists want to perform work in a certain field, such as skin care, nail treatments, makeup, or hairstyling. Others want to work with one specific job, but are required to complete a cosmetology program to fulfill the state’s requirements. Depending on their role, cosmetologists may perform several different services throughout the day. But, this can vary depending on what program you choose. Certificate programs can be completed in 9-12 months. On the other hand, an Associate’s program requires 18-24 months of training. The last portion of the training is clock hours required for licensure, which takes place in a real work environment. A college I would consider attending is College of Hair Design located in Lincoln, Nebraska. At this selected college, a cosmetology program provides 2,100 hours of education to prepare for the Nebraska State Cosmetology Board Exam so students are able to obtain their cosmetology license. There are job opportunities for this occupation in every state. The five states with the highest employment level are California, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas. In Nebraska, the employment number ranges from 1,310-3,180. Cosmetologists in Nebraska receive the highest annual wages out of every state. Cosmetologists make the most money in Alaska and California. There are several job opportunities related to beauty other than a cosmetologist. With a cosmetology license, you are able to choose from several occupations. A salon manager is one of these careers. A salon manager oversees the daily operations of a salon and is considered a supervisor. A skin care specialist is another similar occupation. A skincare specialist cleanses an individual’s body and face to enhance their appearance. A nail technician is another one of the many occupations similar to a cosmetologist.
