I had the pleasure of observing a classroom containing kindergarteners through second graders. In these classes I observed two students. One male one female. They had a variety of different traits and displayed skills to provide information of their development. Each of these children was at different stage of their development. I also visited a special needs classroom. They had a variety of traits that showed their development as well. They differ from the other students I observed.
Average school aged children gain the ability to cut straight lines and cut out shapes with scissors. They usually have a noticeable preference for the right or left hand. They are able to participate more in self care by brushing their own teeth and, for the

She couldn’t cut straight or even stay in the lines of her picture. She had a hard time creating the project. She was however very good at memorizing everything she needed to for her project. Socially she was actively talking to other students and would even try to help them memorize the material. She was very polite and friendly.
These observations were just a few of the many students in the classroom. Each of them had displayed a variety of traits but I choose these four to provide examples of development in early children in the school setting. Many excelled socially, but others had trouble. Many were showing great physical development, but many didn’t. All children develop at different speeds. But these are just a few examples I observed. I hope to continue my observations in my own time and one day teach these children so I can watch them grow and develop. I love children and observing them is a great
It is said that the he development of a child consist of the development of physical, motor, cognitive, communication, and social skills. We expect children from birth to age three to be developing in those fields. However, it is understood that each child develops at their own
All children and young people develop at different rates, but the order which they advance in differs very little. Children’s development tends to progress from head to toe, inner to outer, from simple to complex and from general to specific.
Here we will be looking at each child’s physical development, social and emotional development, intellectual development, and language development. Not one area of development is less important than another, and they all have an impact on each other.
Children’s development may not follow the expected pattern due to a range of personal and external factors. This could be due to disability, long-term illness, life-threatening illness, environment, friends, family, etc.
Prior to the early 20th century little interest was paid to how a child developed; indeed most early research appears to be based on abnormal childhood behaviour (Oates et al. 2005). However, over time researchers began to acknowledge that both genetics and environment factors impacted on the way a child developed. Although there are many theories of child development, in particular constructivism, behaviourism, social constructivism and social learning have influenced developmental psychology enormously (Oates et al. 2005).
Observation is important to find out what the child is interested in and what motivates them to learn alongside their progress and how they behave in certain situations with others, and interacting with someone. Child development theories focus on explaining how children change, develop and grow through childhood. My observation of a child was done with a seven old boy by the name of Romeo. I first observed Romeo development such as physical growth, gross motor and fine motor skills. My observation was done at his house. He has black eyes and has fine, short brown hair. He is between 4 feet with 2 inches tall. When I visited him, He was sitting on the floor in his living room which is laying down with two couches and watching television.
Children and young peopleâ€TMs development is considered in sequences as apposed to stages of development which suggest a child of x-age should be able to do x y & z. By thinking of development in sequences suggests that while children follow the same pattern or route of development they do not necessarily develop through these sequences at fixed ages. However, age ranges are used as framework for understanding the pattern of development. It is essential to remember however that children of any age are individuals and therefore will develop at different rates and there are varying factors that can impact the rate of development. In addition, development at each sequence cannot be seen in isolation as once sequence cannot take part without development
I am providing a child observation done during CFS176 child development class, as an example of my understanding of 1a. Knowing and understanding young children’s characteristics and needs.
In the Life-Span Development course at Dordt College, we observed two children on February 18th, 2016. With the approval of the parents, we watched the physical, cognitive, and social development of a 3-month old male, Cupper, and a 5.5-month old girl, Mariah. This observation was done in room 1320 in the classroom building of Dordt College.
JJ is a 3-year-old Caucasian male that is currently being observed in a daycare setting located at the Erie Community college in WNY. This observational study is to see what characteristic can help us understand how the developmental process is with JJ, and what part has more emphasis on social factors that is contributing to his cognitive development. JJ is in the Erie Community College daycare, while his mother or father is attending their college classes around 10:00 a.m. JJ is wearing a blue sweatshirt and a pair of jeans with sneakers. While observing him for the first five minutes, he was not engaging in the activities, while not really expressing any emotions towards the peers, teachers, and his environment.
Toni, 6, moved into Sanderling Waldorf School in January of her kindergarten year. During our initial meeting, her mother informed the me that Toni had been diagnosed with ADHD and on Ritalin for a year and would need some special attention. She and her husband, a Pilot, were looking for any suggestions the school could provide. I indicated that I would review Toni's file and asked the mother if she and her husband could come in to meet with me after I had the opportunity to observe Toni while in class.
Conducting classroom observations are very important to the prospective teacher. Observing helps show how experienced teachers manage their classroom. For this observation it was important to notice how the classroom was arranged, how the teacher interacted with the students, the teacher’s management style, and interview the teacher.
Doctors, teachers, and parents observe the development of their child or several children. Some professions address one area more than others, but all areas of development effect each other. I will be analyzing Sophia, a 3-year, 7 month old child. Sophia participates in dance class and attends daycare. She has one younger sister, who is 9 months old, and married parents.
Classroom observation is a main approach of teaching research. Scholars or researchers use video to record the real whole class and observe the teachers and students’ actions, words and the efficiency in the class. Though the observation, they analyze what approach is more suitable. This paper will select video 5 and video 3 as the material to do the classroom observation. Different aspects such as teachers’ responds, questions, instructions notes and students’ behavior will be addressed to analyze the efficacy of this class.
Every builder knows "A house is only as strong as its foundation". They also know that they have to evaluate and become familiar the land before beginning to work. This rationale can be used as a guideline for teachers across the world, especially with the children in the early childhood stage, ages 2-6, because how teachers assist children in this stage will serve as the foundation for the life ahead of them. A child develops physically, cognitively and socially. It is important for the teachers to know how the child is developing in order for them to effectively teach the students because they lack of understanding can lead problems for the child. Additionally, if the teacher is aware of how the
