Summary This week I went out on the field with a couple of case workers. The caseworkers needed help with detaining children, and putting them in an out of home placement shelter. Caseworkers were asking people, mainly interns to help them with their case. The intake caseworkers had an ethical reason, as to why they wanted an additional caseworker accompanying them. One caseworker did not want to transport a child in her car, because of what the child did to his sibling to be placed out of the home. The other caseworker ethically did not want transport a teenage boy in her car. OCY’s policies says if we are transporting a caseworker who is of a different gender, they are to ask a caseworker who fits the clients gender to go out on the field with them and detain the child. Both times transporting the youths to placement was a success. …show more content…
A caseworker named Tashara Handcock asked me to interview two children from different schools, and take a photo of them for CPS. I completed the assigned cases, and obtain a photo of the children without any problems. Even on my own cases, when I interview my client it feels natural. My interviewing skills have improved very well to the point I feel comfortable talking with my clients. I know what questions to ask, and have the interview flow so it feels normal. On one of my cases I spoke with a teenage client stating I am ending an investigation the agency had assigned to me. I explained to the client the incident in which landed him in placement would be unfounded. The client understood, and did not have any questions as to why the case was
The problem solving methods that might be helpful to assist Jerry in making an ethical decision would be to establish trust with the patient and become aware of the problem. Then analyze the problems and decide on a plan with the patient. He will then want to make sure he reinforces the commitment to the patient and activate the plan. Last, he will follow through with the task and monitor everything until the situation is taken care of.
A social worker has a multitude of responsibilities to ensure the best care is provided for their clients. Due to conflicting interpretations of ethical guidelines and rules, and a variety of personal views, social workers can sometimes find themselves in a tough situation when there are conflicts of interest. This can cause difficult or awkward sessions between the social worker and client, and can ultimately lead to the termination of services. In the case between Allison and Carmen, conflicting views caused Carmen to discontinue her sessions with Allison.
This paper will first discuss briefly what ethics are and provide the definition for an ethical issue. An ethical leadership issue is identified and explained for this author’s practice area. We will then identify and discuss key strategies for leadership that are pertinent to the ethical issue. Next, empirical evidence which supports the strategies discussed will be analyzed. Then, the impact and importance of the strategies will be stated. The final step will be to provide a conclusion to the reader that summarizes the content and strategies.

Nurses are faced with ethical issues and dilemmas on a regular basis. In this case scenario I would do my job and give them out to the families that have a limited income and cannot afford them. If one sees that they are coming to the expiration date soon then I would believe that it is okay to take them home then, but these samples are for those less fortunate. It is ethically correct to not take the samples home unless they are about to expire and be wasted, but only then. Legally it is not yours to take home it is for the patients.
Case Management Ethical Obligations Case Managers hired by insurance companies are expected to have a certain level of loyalty to the company that hired them. However, the standards of practice established by the Case Management Society of America (CSMA) places the case manager’s ethical obligation to the patient, regardless who the case manager is employed by. Under the CSMA standards, the loyalty and primary responsibility of the case manager belongs to the patient. The case manager will have to choose treatment and rehabilitation services in the patient’s best interest, over saving the insurance company money.
The individuals involved in the interview are a man diagnosed with Autism (subject S) and a female lawyer (subject R). They are connected through a professional-helping relationship. The incidents leading up to the interview are with regards to a custody battle concerning subject S and his seven year old daughter. His doctors have declared that the intellectual capacity of subject S does not exceed the age of seven. The issue arises when Child Protective Services deem subject S unfit and incapable of raising his daughter due to the fact that he is unable to hold down a steady job and that his daughter will eventually
To begin with, the client whose name is Mr. Sam Pilsudski has an obstructed airway secondary to cancer of the larynx. He is a 67-year-old widower, and a father of one son and two daughters, who is unconscious and terminally ill, if not for a much-needed operation to remove both his cancer and larynx to save his life. However, one of Mr. Pilsudski’s daughters has adamantly refused to consent to the surgical procedure despite the physician explaining that although the operation would unfortunately render his patient disabled without a voice consequentially, but ultimately surviving the procedure to live and recover. Moreover, the physician attempted with rational and clear communication to express the gravity of the rather poor prognosis of his illness to his daughter that in the event of foregoing the surgery, his patient would surely die (Ralph Dolgoff, Donna Harrington, and Frank M. Loewenberg (2012), Ethical Decisions for Social Work Practice. 9th Ed; p. 279).
After reviewing all the information provided, Allen Lopez should not be able to keep his job. He stated he was protecting the lower level employees which means he was practicing utilitarianism by making sure everyone is happy and deontology by explaining he felt it was his duty. However, after rereading the scenario, he was really practicing egoism; he was more worried he may lose his job and protecting his own job by airing out the company’s dirty laundry. Employees should build a relationship and empathize with the situation which is described under the under care ethics (Sadler, 2011).
Build a mirror CRM production system over the next two weeks so that a rebuilding of the main CRM system could occur to plug security holes and assure that another DoS attack would not be successful.
I had a similar interview like you had, I interview a Case manager at the Department of Social Services who was a close friend. I had no idea she was the case manager, after about her job and her experiences it made me thinks about things a little more. She informed me that working with adult can be very challenging. A lot of her clients get mad at her because they aren’t approved for certain program or their services get terminated for missing information.
Nicholas was a client at St. Paul’s Family Center, whom I served as a social worker a year ago before he passed away. Nicholas was experiencing a number of problems on his job that contributed negatively to his life as well as that of his family. Nicholas died 8 months ago as a result of a confrontation at a local bar. As days progressed, I learnt that Nicholas was the innocent victim. A reporter for a local newspaper by the name Roberta Frei is interested in writing an article on local domestic violence, and therefore approached me yesterday to ask for information concerning Nicholas because she heard he had been abusive to his wife and children.
