Art Museum Visit I stumbled across the artwork “Last Judgement” by Circle of Hieronymus Bosch at Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University. I was shocked when I initially saw this. I first noticed Jesus Christ centered at the top. I immediately knew it was a religious painting, particularly Christian. To the left of him, I recognized two lines of angels that I inferred were leading a sort of pathway to Heaven. I thought that it was interesting how that Bosch depicted that scene to being smaller compared to the rest of the artwork. The rest of the artwork depicted a dystopian environment. This dystopian environment was what I inferred to be Hell. Bosch depicted many horrifying events in the foreground. In the far right corner, you see that
This painting is done with oil on canvas. The painting itself holds visual texture and substance. The repetition and sorting is well executed. With some other works, subject matter which is so simple can come off as bland and boring. Yet Thiebaud was able to turn something so simple into a beautiful piece of art. Wayne Thiebaud uses heavy pigment and defined shadowing. All while the attention to detail is divine. With the well defines brushstrokes to luscious look of the frosting that coats the pieces of cakes. The color is vivid and imminently captures your eye; with intensity and he uses his shading properly while also using proper proportions as the pieces of pie
Over the spring break, I chose to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art with my friends Irene and Mei. We explored many exhibits such as The Egyptian Art, The American Wing, and Asian Art. I saw statues, ceramics, textiles, pottery, and paintings. I really enjoyed looking at the Sphinx and sarcophagus in the Egyptian Art section. The interior design of the museum was so well planned out in each exhibit from the lighting of the room to the smell. The interior design of the museum was so exquisite especially the atmosphere it created. I felt like I could explore the corners of the world in one building.
Among the many artworks I have seen, I decided to discuss about the “Sarcophagus Depicting a Battle between Soldiers and Amazons (Warrior Women)” from the Roman civilization. It was built sometime in between 140 A.D. to 170 A.D and is approximately forty and a half inches in length, ninety-one and a half inches in width, and fifty and a half inches tall in height (“Roman Sarcophagus”). This masterpiece appealed to me because of the unique approach that has been designed to honor the deceased. Many people are familiar with the formatting and inscriptions of a gravestone because it is usually engraved with an individual’s full name, birth date, and death date. During the Roman Empire, a sarcophagus, which is a coffin, was widely used to show decorative themes that includes: battle scenes, hunting scenes, weddings, or other memorable episodes from the life of the deceased individual. The most luxurious ones were made from marble surrounded by symbolic sculptures, figures and inscriptions on all four sides (“Sarcophagus”). Another feature that captured my attention was the large quantity of details used to bring out a lifelike aspect of the deceased individual’s favorable moments in their life. In this artwork, this sarcophagus was dedicated to a Roman commander. The exterior of the sarcophagus has been well-decorated and carved with exquisite details depicting a battle scene
Over the thanksgiving break I visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Met is an art museum in New York City that has a variety of ancient artwork from different cultures and time periods. There is paintings and sculptures from Ancient Egypt, Ancient Rome and Greece. The Met also has artwork from many different religions such as Christianity and Islam. Each section in the museum had a specific artwork that attracted my attention.
Bosch’s most famous painting is the Garden of Earthly Delight. It has amazing imagery and exaggerations and also contained many vivid scenes. Few painters packed more detail into their work than Hieronymus Bosch. The wings of Bosch’s triptych open to reveal a color filled interior bursting with strange architecture, unnatural landforms, and all types of hybrid creatures. In the main part of the left hand panel, God the Father stands between the naked figures of Adam and Eve, surrounded by various flora and fauna. This is the Garden of Eden, though the scene has a dark side. In the distance, an animal tears at the flesh of his prey. Another one of Bosch’s famous paintings was the Last
Tucson Museum of Art is one of the biggest and famous art museums not only in Tucson, but also in the whole state of Arizona. Luckily, I had an honor to actually visit it during this semester. This year, the main topic of these art works in this exhibition was Latin American and Western artworks, however the museum also added eight new exhibitions in the main Museum galleries for the annual El Nacimiento installation in the historic La Casa Cordova. Even I didn’t really read Spanish but by seeing all those new galleries I was so sure I was lucky enough to see them this year. It was quiet fantastic to see over fifty different art pieces displayed in this museum. Although I had a hard time to understand some of those art works since they
Before visiting the Mint Museum in Downtown Charlotte, North Carolina, I had never been to a true art museum before. This particular art museum had many sculptures, ceramics, and paintings from various artists. The work of the artists dated back as far as the Mayans and extended through artists from current culture. All of the art was unique, allowing me to visually obtain a more thorough understanding of many different cultures. It was quite difficult for me to choose a piece of art that I wanted to talk about because there were so many intriguing pieces, however, one of the items that really grabbed my attention was a portrait of Queen Charlotte.
It was a cold, dark gray, day to our trip to Washington D.C. . The museum that I visited was the The Air and Space Museum. The Air and Space Museum has a lot of experiences that you can learn. At the museum that I visited had rockets, planes, and the gear that the pilots wear. The airplane that I went in had all the controls that the pilots used.

Jan van Eyck was active since 1422 and died in 1441. He was the most celebrated painter of the fifteen-century in Europe. One of his famous works is “The Last Judgment”. At first sight this work immediately attracted my attention. The painting’s stunning colors and the fact that it reminded me of a previous similar work I have seen, triggered in my mind. The material that is used is oil on canvas, transferred from wood. The size of this work is 22 1/4 *7 2/3 in. (56.5 * 19.7cm).
It is the first time I went to visited Tacoma Art Museum is a wonderful place. Tacoma Art museum is not a big place, but it had a lot of beautiful artwork include a different kind artwork such as sculpture, oil painting, glass blown, gold painting and other among. Museum is a magic place for human beings to talk to the greatest artists in the history regardless of time and space. Visiting a museum is like taking a long walk in the history of human beings. Artworks are designated to record either the unique thoughts of artists or the indelible history of a period. A short trip of the Metropolitan Museum brings me not only the joy of visiting, but also the decorous feeling of baroque art. It is not surprise that many baroque art is devoted to demonstrate the majesty and solemnity. Ferdinando de' Medici (1663–1713), Grand Prince of Tuscany ,which is created by Giovanni Battista Foggini, deeply impress me.
In this course, I hope to learn the importance of the multicultural influence on the school system and the sociological approach to address the issues in today's education system. Furthermore, Art Museum education programs are intertwine with the public school system, therefore have an understanding of the weaknesses and the issues that the school system faces will be a tremendous benefit. Additionally, this would enable the Museum’s to be a bridge between the public school systems and the community, in other words the museums would designing education programs to fill in the gap that the public school system cannot provide because of economics.
Before visiting the Walter’s Art Museum, I was thinking about which topic I should be focusing on. At first, I was thinking Asian Arts might be the easiest topic for me to do the term paper. Since I got some Asian cultural background. However, this museum doesn’t have a lot of Asian arts on display that really interesting to me. Mostly, I see were Chinese ceramics and potteries. I was hoping to see some calligraphy and handscrolls on display at the museum then seeing those artworks on their website. As I continue looking around, I realized this museum has a lot of great collection with tons of variety; Roman, Greece, Egyptian, Renaissance, Asian, and Medieval arts.
At first, I didn’t want to go to the museum. That day, I was exhausted after finishing school, so going all the way to San Francisco wasn’t exactly my idea of relaxing. Thankfully, my mom insisted we go that day, since it was my dad’s day off. I felt frustrated that we had to go right then, but my mom forced us.
