DEFINITION:Common Semitic noun *a-, brother. 1. Ahab, from Hebrew ab, father's brother, from a, irregular bound form of , brother (b, father; see b). 2. Sennacherib, from Akkadian Sîn-a-erba, Sin has replaced the (lost) brothers for me, from a, oblique plural of au, brother (erba, he has replaced for me; see rb). 3. Esarhaddon, from Akkadian Aur-aa-iddin, Ashur has given a brother, from aa, accusative of au (see above; iddin, has given; see ntn).
