Never before has there been such dissent in the soccer world. Ask any fan, any expert, anyone who their favorite is, who they believe is better or simply who they prefer, and you will never, ever reach consensus. It is the never ending argument that speaks volumes and goes beyond the sport. When the best Spanish teams, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, meet, the biggest subplot of the match is Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo. But the question remains, who is better? You can reach the answer to this question by comparing the two players – Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo – based on shooting and goal-scoring capabilities, and mentality. Goalkeepers constantly have to stop rockets that come their way, but when it comes to shooting, Lionel …show more content…
Cristiano Ronaldo scores far more goals with his head, not afraid to go in where it hurts. He manages to apply great power to his headers and undoubtly is always going to be more effective in the air than Messi. This is due to the fact that Ronaldo stands at 6'1" while Lionel Messi stands at 5'6 ½". Messi scored the memorable second goal against Manchester United, one of England's best teams, in the 2009 Champions league final with his head. But that was the exception to the rule. Most of "La Pulga Atomica’s" (The Atomic Flea) goals come from his left foot. Lionel Messi has become a lethal intruder in the goalkeeper's area. If someone were to tell you that they've seen him gently push in 40 goals with one-touch kicks inside the goalkeeper's area the past two years, they wouldn't be exaggerating. When the play needs collected finishing, Lionel is right there to lightly push it home every time. Lastly, a player's mentality can make them or break them. It influences so much that it changes the way a player acts. Messi's mentality, suprisingly, isn't the best around. When his under pressure, it seems like the weight of the world lies on his shoulders and slows him down. This happens often when he plays with his national team, Argentina. The fact that you'll sometimes find yourself asking — Where's Messi? — is proof enough. His performance in the World Cup will never reveal his true potential. Cristiano wants to win. Badly. He wants to score and shine
been well recorded, and it sometimes affects his game too much.” Ronaldo sometimes argues with players and the referee that he ends up getting sent off early with either two yellow cards or a straight red card affecting his team and teammates with one less player on the field against a full eleven man squad. I see how people create stereotypes about professional soccer players because i watch almost every soccer game of Cristiano Ronaldo's soccer team and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s soccer team both Real madrid and Paris Saint Germain. When watching the soccer games of Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain you could see where people create these stereotypes but most of the time professional players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic play

Football and soccer have never been really compared before, probably because alot of people think they dont have many similarities. But they actually have alot more in common that people think they do. Having played both sports myself i can tell you that they are very different in varius ways, but also very alike. It depends in what aspects you look at it that you can see differences or similarites. Off field soccer and football share different backgrounds. On field comparisons are never talked about but they actually have somre similarities. Yes football is more of a contact sport, and soccer more of a technique sport. But football does have technique as well, and soccer contact.
On the other hand, in the game of soccer, the only piece of equipment required is shin guards. Soccer is a contact sport, but no one tackles anyone like in football, so the use of shoulder pads and helmets is not necessary. As opposed to football, the home team in a soccer game wears white jerseys and the visiting team wears the colorful jerseys. In a soccer game, a team’s offense and defense is on the field simultaneously, there is no alternation of a team’s offense and defense. Each team has a goalie, also known as a keeper, to serve as the last line of defense against the offense. This player is the only one who may use his/her hands on the field, but he/she must remain inside the eighteen-yard-goalie-box to do so. A number of three to five defenders position themselves in front of the goalie, and their primary job is to keep the ball away from the goalie, because, as stated previously, the goalie is the last line
Ricardo Kaka, renowned AC Milan/Real Madrid player and native Brazilian, he is one of the most openly religious players in soccer and has contributed much of his personal funds to founding churches and supporting charities. Furthermore, Ricardo Kaka demonstrates a level of humility not often seen in the sporting world especially at the level he has competed at and the awards that he has received. After receiving the Ballon D’Or, the highest individual award in soccer, in 2007 (the last player to do so since the Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo winning streak) he attributed the skills
With his goal drought well diminished Chicharito is finally back on track leaving his shaky past in England in the books. As he continues to awe the Bundesliga and his club with consistency his 18 appearances and 13 goals say more than just statistics. With a 72% chance of scoring every game Chicharito has done more than just break records in the Bundesliga but has opened doors for other foreign footballers. Overcoming his father’s success Chicharito is edging as Mexico’s all-time top soccer with only 4 goals short of Mexico legend Jared Borgetti’s 46 (Salvadore). With time, surely on Chicharito’s side to set yet another record for his country, he’s more than just overrated but overlooked due to his
These two sports are similar in many ways. People love basketball and soccer because it contains competitiveness. Both of these sports motivate people to stay healthy and fit. (2) Also both sports have one objective and that is to score more points than the opposing team to win games. (1)Every league has playoffs for the best teams to compete against each other. Competing in the playoffs will show the best team and the best team is rewarded with a championship trophy.
The issue that is being investigated are between two Spanish “football” (soccer) teams – which team is ultimately better? Both giants in their own right, Barcelona and Real Madrid have traded success and feuded for a very long time. Both sets of fans have fought over which team is better – comparing players, stats, style of play, managers, stadiums, etc.
Cristiano Ronaldo is undoubtedly one of the greatest soccer players to ever step foot on a pitch. Throughout his career, he has managed to set records and win virtually every individual and team award possible with the exception of the World Cup. Ronaldo has won the FIFA Player of the Year Award (Ballon D’or) 3 times and is very likely to be on his way to a 4th come this January. What separates Cristiano from the rest of the world is his drive. He has always believed that he is the best and is never satisfied with what he has already accomplished. The main reason however, that I chose to write about Cristiano Ronaldo is because we have something in common. He was diagnosed with a heart problem at the age of 15 which threatened his
Over the years, playing soccer has taught me what it takes to succeed. From months of tough practices, I have gained a hard work ethic. From my coaches and fellow teammates, I have learned to work well with others in a group, as it is necessary to cooperate with teammates on the playing field. But most important, I have also gained self-confidence. If I fail, it doesn't' t matter if they mock or ridicule me; I will simply try again and do it better. I realize that it is necessary to risk failure in order to gain success. The
This life-changing medical condition required very expensive medical treatment that was too overwhelming for Messi’s family. With this situation in mind, the Messi family decided to move to Catalonia in the hopes of young Leo getting recruited for FC Barcelona’s youth system, and earning enough money to help pay the extravagant medical bills. Luckily, their dreams became a reality and Leo joined the club at aged 13. The club happily agreed to help pay for the piling bills, and brought Messi where he is today.
“Practice makes Perfect” Soccer is a sport that requires hours and hours of practice in order to obtain the technique need to play at a high level, making the game much more enjoyable to watch and to play. In the article “What Video Games Have to Teach Us”, the author James Paul Gee explains how “Good games operate at the outer and growing edge of a player’s competence, remaining challenging, but do-able…Since games are often challenging, but do-able, they are often also pleasingly frustrating, which is a very motivating state for human beings” (4). When this thought is compared to soccer it can be noticed that soccer is one of the most technique needed sports, every single thing that is done on the field whether its dribbling, passing, shooting,
If you do not believe me about the incredible things that Roberto Carlos has done click on the link below and you will be amazed. The shots he takes are so amazing because they wrap around the defenders and then instantly turn into the corner of the goal. This curvature is due to the fact that there is a low-drag, high-turbulent airflow working against the ball pushing it to the side due to the air resistance. To get his desired curve Roberto Carlos had to kick the ball with enough force to give it an initial velocity fast enough to get passed the defenders before the ball slows down and its smooth-airflow stage ends. Then he also had to put enough side spin on the ball to give it a rotating motion. Once past the defenders the ball's smooth-airflow stage ends and the angular velocity put onto the ball comes into play causing the ball to turn directions. Many people can make a soccer ball curve some, but no one can do it as well as Roberto Carlos. Another aspect in Roberto Carlos's game that is amazing is the fact that he can kick the ball at such a fast velocity. In fact, he has been known to kick the soccer ball as hard as ninety miles per hour. When kicking this hard it is hard for the goalie to do anything about it.
Defensively in soccer speed is sometimes slowed down and skilled footwork may be needed. How a player uses speed or velocity depends on the situation, but if just one isn’t done skillfully a player may not end up making the play as planned.
A passionate desire to play on the field and an undying love for football, Cristiano's interest in the great sport of football started when he was just three years old. When Cristiano was around ten or so, word of his spectacular skills on the field was
