been well recorded, and it sometimes affects his game too much.” Ronaldo sometimes argues with players and the referee that he ends up getting sent off early with either two yellow cards or a straight red card affecting his team and teammates with one less player on the field against a full eleven man squad. I see how people create stereotypes about professional soccer players because i watch almost every soccer game of Cristiano Ronaldo's soccer team and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s soccer team both Real madrid and Paris Saint Germain. When watching the soccer games of Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain you could see where people create these stereotypes but most of the time professional players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic play …show more content…
Another way to see or have personal experience with these players is through youtube where you can have a more close encounter on the way they react during their professional soccer games. I can relate to most professional soccer players because my dad and all his brothers were all soccer players themselves. I know what it feels like when you get fouled in a soccer match and the referee does not call a foul for you so you get up heated towards the opponent and you take out your frustration on the referee by talking back to him and asking why he did not call it. Also sometimes when you are not enjoying your playing time in a certain soccer team you choose not to play as hard as others because you are not enjoying your time in that particular soccer team. Another reason is that your own teammates frustrate you because they are not listening or are just off their game that night so you choose not to pass the ball. My life has always revolved around soccer. My father and I watch professional soccer games as often as we can but when our professional soccer team plays a certain day we are for sure going to be busy watching the game whenever the match is on. In our family a brother of my father was actually really close to becoming a professional soccer player for a team in mexico …show more content…
So whenever you hear my name, you will think of their names. Whenever you see me, you will see them.”
Zlatan is known for his bad mouthing of others and his huge ego but he is still loved by many and hated by almost no one maybe because he cares so much about his people and those suffering in his country and others around the world.
Professional Soccer players are criticized by their actions on the field like by expressing their ego, being a hot head, selfish with the ball and not passing, taking the glory, and being arrogant. What most people don't realize is that players often behave different on the pitch than when they are off the pitch. Players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Lionel Messi, Diego Costa and a few others are stereotyped because of the attitude they display on the soccer field during matches and public soccer team practices. Most people do not take the chance to find out the real truth and personality of the players being criticised. Most of the players have a very big heart from donating to charities to simple acts of kindness and gratitude towards people in their life who helped them. Media and spectators convince people that these certain soccer stars are genuinely bad and do not care about anyone else but
Within the soccer culture there is different ways one communicates with the team whether it’s with hand signals or short phrases like “open”, “run the line”, or “man on”. Everyone in the soccer culture believes in fair play and teamwork. Soccer requires unity in a team to perform well as a whole and win. There are strict rules in soccer and there is always a referee to control the game.
However, soccer sometimes has negative impacts on individuals taking part in the game as spectators or players. Soccer makes a number of individuals intolerant and this intolerance could cause disturbances to other participants in the game. Hooliganism is one of the most popular form of intolerance in the game of soccer where fans from the opposing sides in most instances get into physical confrontations resulting in injuries and in worse cases, deaths. An example was when Egypt faced Algeria in an African Nations Cup tournament where Algerian fans got down into the pitch and engaged the Egyptian fans in a physical fight which left several people dead. These physical fights are not only limited to the fans but the soccer players as well. Many instances have been reported of players getting into physical confrontations with the members of the opposing team (Huggins, 2007). This has resulted in the development of more stringent rules to reduce such incidences. This is evidence of how the popular culture that is soccer elicits emotions among the participant of the game.
There are so many other reasons why soccer is the best sport. It not only brings people together but helps people get through really hard times through life and health. It also helped people out that didn't have a lot money. Soccer helped out a lot of people especially Cristiano Ronaldo he was very poor but soccer really impacted his life and helped him. He accomplished who he wanted to be in life and what he wanted to do for his family. It also doesn't matter how tall or short you are you can play soccer no matter how you look or how tiny you are. It just you have to have the passion for the game and love it the way Messi loved it they criticized him for
“Stereotypes are generalizations or assumptions that people make about the characterization of all members of a group, based on an image about what people in that group are like” (Burgess). People use stereotypes everyday. It is our human nature. Everyone is labeled under at least one stereotype, if not more. Some people agree with their stereotypes while others are offended by them. Often we don’t give people a chance at something just because of stereotypes we have heard about them. Many people stereotype athletes. People think that athletes are self-centered, unintelligent, bullies, and drink under age. I know that the stereotypes about athletes are not true for me.
Everyone has that certain thing that makes them who they are. That certain thing for me is soccer. It’s my hobby, my biggest interest, and my passion. Soccer isn’t just a sport for me, it’s my life. It has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have played the intriguing game of soccer since I was four years old, and I have loved it ever since.
Soccer is like a religion in many countries all over the world and it means everything to its fans. Where im from, Argentina, soccer is bigger than anything. Alot of people take soccer even more serious than their jobs. Sometimes a little to serious. There has been a lot of soccer related accidents in Argentina and many other parts of the world. Many of the accidents occur during games in the stands. Soccer rivalries are very big in Argentina. Sometimes they seperate towns. Just like gangs here in United States, soccer fans fight for respect and hate towards the other team, a lot of times ending in deaths. Other incidents occur off the field. A good example to show how serious fans take the game, is the incident that occur after a World Cup, when a colombian player scored an own goal during an important game, and he was assasinated a few days later. Things like that usually never happen here in the United States. Not to say that fans are no passionate about football, but its a different type of passion.
Basketball, football, and hockey are considered the most popular sports in America as of today. However, sports in the early 1950s were not as popular as they are now. According to “An Exercise in Subtleties and the Transmission of Racism: An Analysis of Sports Illustrated Covers” by Eric Primm, Summer DuBois, and Robert M. Regoli, they stated that American love their sport and that “each year they would spend billions of dollars on sports-related items and activities.” The media help promote the popularity of the sports in America. Consequently, sports media “plays a key role in perpetuating the types of racial stereotypes about minority athletes in sports” (Ismond, 115). The thesis of this writing project is with some racial stereotype reinforcement
Ricardo Kaka, Zindine Zidane, these are the names of two legendary soccer players who represent the polarized sides of a very diverse spectrum of player attitudes, behaviors, and perspectives. Each player demonstrates a very high level of skill and determination that has brought them fans from across the globe, however one has conducted himself to a higher standard following respect and demonstrating fairness and honorable behaviors, whereas the other has acted disgracefully on multiple occasions and has sealed himself into the infamous side of the history books. These ideals must be reviewed and analyzed in order to understand what we have become as audiences, and what we venerate in society. Will we promote ethics or immorality? I believe these reflections can reveal a great sum about how we conduct ourselves and how we truly regard ethics in sports.
Furthermore, apart from the pressure exerted from their club they are under the pressure of the audience. They have always to play correctly and not make any mistake so that the media and the public will not criticize them. A single error would represent a possible end of the career of that player.
Soccer is regarded as the world’s biggest sport, it’s played everywhere, from the streets to major cities around the globe. There are many misconceptions about soccer and it’s very frustrating to hear about; being a Soccer fan myself. Whether you call it football or soccer, there are three enormous misconceptions I hear all the time and one of the biggest misconception I hear from people is that soccer is a very long and boring sport. The second one I pick up from people is whenever a penalty kick has been awarded, the referee must give a red or yellow card to the opposing teams defender. This Just isn’t true. The last misconception is you will get beat up by delinquents if you go to a game. Most People believe that soccer isn’t very exciting to watch and is very tiresome to go through. Soccer isn’t a game where two teams go back and forth scoring goal after goal.
Growing up in a Hispanic household my family’s culture has had a significant impact in my life from avoiding a different variety of salsas and thinking twice about my immature decisions. Yet their love for the beautiful game known as Fútbol or soccer has always held on to me and is inspiring how it brings together an entire world or in this case my fanatic family. With soccer in my blood, as many relatives love to think, I’ve grown to love the sport, but my love was limited by restrictions. With an un-financially stable high school placing soccer in the bottom of the list of funds, my love for the game only stretched to amateur pickup games and watching ninety minute games on FOX Deportes. With limitations affecting my passion I began to follow
What these players fail to realize is that some kids can't handle the gaze of the crowd that watches the game, and that these kids can't focus on the game. Instead, these players focus on the gazes of the people and the comments the crowd makes; this can cause players to become extremely nervous and more likely to do nothing, and end up playing poorly. In an article written by Mark Hyman and Nathan Pitcock, writers for the New York Times, they state “More than a third said they had been yelled at or teased by fans; fifteen percent said their parents get angry when they play poorly" (Pitcock, Hymen 1). This quote shows that the player’s fear of preforming poorly, and how others may react to their performance, can cause young athletes to feel bad about themselves. Fans comments can affect the player’s confidence and their performance when they get worked up over what coaches and parents say. The pressure put on these young athletes can be too much and overwhelm them, which takes the joy out of the
It’s hard to ignore mean comments when playing soccer. Adam is a player who will ignore mean comments from the team. Such as when we are listening to our coaches someone will stand next to Adam and say a mean comment such as “you need to be better at defending.” Also in practice players will say mean statements like they are joking but they are not. In drills players will say “don’t mess up like last time” but in a cruel way. Now it is extremely hard for him to ignore harsh comments from the people watching the game because they will yell a mean comment about a player sometimes it would be Adam. Adam keeps on playing and ignores the comments.
No matter if you call it soccer, or you call it football, it is arguably the sport of the world. Played by more people around the globe than any other, and with some matches by over a billion people at one time, this one sport unifies a people unlike any other. It is a sport that inspires and motivates, and it is a sport that entertains and gives cause to celebrate. In short, soccer is a truly a sport for the players and the fans alike. Increasingly, it is a sport that transcends gender lines with more and more females taking part and enjoying the game that men have bantered over for decades.
Paul and Erik’s choice of sport and the positions they play says a lot about their character. Soccer and football are different sports that each display different rules, positions and
