Concept explainers
To determine:
The genes of complex traits, which are easier to identify: those that are numerous with small effects or those that are few with large effects.
Introduction:
A gene is a segment of DNA which codes for a protein. It is the functional and basic of heredity. Size varies from few hundred to millions of bases.
Complex traits come from multiple genes that show variation. Large variety of
Explanation of Solution
Genes that are few with larger effects are easier to identify. When there is a larger group of survey it is often results in small effects. The magnitude of gene effect is measured by the number of individuals that are participating. When effects are clearly seen or observed it is considered as the best way to find the outcome even if there is small no. of individuals.
Lesser the number of genes with more effects is always considered as easiest to carry out experiments.
Complex genes are the multiple genes. When any survey is carried out it is always preferred to choose few genes with larger effect to identify any disease.
