The meaning of the term ‘negative-feedback’ and if the reference of the word ‘negative’ is for bad in the negative-feedback.
Answer to Problem 1QR
Negative feedback is not bad but it is a mechanism which helps to maintain equilibrium of the system through a self-regulatory system.
Explanation of Solution
Feedback mechanisms are of two types: positive feedback and negative feedback. Negative feedback helps to maintain equilibrium of the system and operates in a self-regulatory system. In case of river streams, when there is too much water in the river stream, it triggers a negative-feedback mechanism in the river stream. Due to this feedback, rate of erosion increases in the stream, which further slows the flow and gradient of water. It helps the river to maintain equilibrium in the river channel. Negative feedback is not bad, but it is helpful in maintaining equilibrium of the river system
