Summary Introduction

To review:

The direct stimulus involved in gravitropism and phototropism.

Introduction:

Plants are unable to move from one place to another but they have different mechanisms by which they can change the orientation of their body parts in response to external stimuli. Tropism is a term that is used to describe the movement of plant parts away or toward a unidirectional stimulus like light and gravity.

Permanent changes in plant parts are created as a result of different responses to external stimuli. When the plant parts move in response to a light stimulus then the process is called phototropism. When the plant parts move in response to the gravitational pull of earth then the process is called the gravitropism.
