Given:

From the table 8.8, the average bond energy of C-Cl bond is 339kJ/mol

In-order to find the wavelength of the radiation we can use the equation

E=E=hcλwhereh(Plancksconstant)=6.626×10-34Jsc(speedoflight)=3×108m/s

Substituting the values

λ=hcE=6.626×10-34Js×3×108m/s339×103J/mol=5.863×10-31m/mol

The wavelength of the radiation is 3.53×103m

Therefore wavelength of the radiation in meter is calculated by multiplying the answer with Avogadro number.

λ=5.863×10-31m/mol×6.022×1023=3.53×10-7m

This wavelength corresponds to ultraviolet region in the electromagnetic spectrum.
