PSY 302 Spring B Module 5 Readings Essay April 19, 2023 Walker - Chapter 5 1. Explain the research on your “Three Good Things” exercise. What was found? “Three Good Things,” exercise research stated the exercise increased feelings of being well (Walker et al., 2014 p.97). This same research found that these feelings lasted for six months (Walker et al., 2014 p.97). The interesting part of the research is that by writing about traumatic experiences also correlated with people feeling happier (Walker et al., 2014 p.97). The study done by Pennebaker, Kiecolt-Galser, & Glaser had actual physical tests that reflected the human body improved by writing about traumas not shared previously (Walker et al., 2014 p.97). I had written a journal for most of my life and I do feel quite better after I write. I find these studies to be correct. Cameron - Chapter 5 2. Explain the three types of relationships identified between members and their organizations and how they relate to meaning. The three relationships are compliance, identification, and internalization (Cameron, 2012 p.80- 81). The compliance relationship is based on punishment and rewards, such as a person doing everything their job requires for the income (Cameron, 2012 p.81). The internalization relationship is when the employee has the same ideologies as the organization, so much so that aligns with the organization’s mission (Cameron, 2012 p.81). The last relationship is meaningfulness and this means the employee beliefs their work is their calling therefore, both parties have positive results (Cameron, 2012 p.82). Cameron, K. S. (2012).
