The book that I am currently reading is called “Transformational Leadership in Healthcare” by Dr. Dorine Fobi-Takusi. In the previous course MHA 520, we took a leadership style questionnaire, and my leadership style was identified as “Consultive”. Consultive leadership style is built on mutual respect between a leader and his or her followers. In this type of relationship, the leader will solicit input and feedback from his or her followers before making the final decision. Having two-way communication helps build trust and foster a shared sense of goals and purpose. (Ali, 2022) With that being said, the book relates to my current leadership style as it is the roadmap to cultivating a result-driven management team. The most
influential statement that I have read so far is “Communication goes beyond words. It is not just about sending emails, but it is also about connecting with people so they can act when they read your email, especially in the world of leadership where connection is everything”. (Forbi-Takusi, 2022)
Systems thinking is a process that requires a collaborative approach to solve problems and make improvements within an organization. (Hamilton, 2023) I have not yet read specifics on system thinkings, but I
do feel this book will align with my understanding of systems thinking. From what I have read so far, transformational leadership is about collaborating, building connections, and finding ways to improve leadership qualities. Leaders are the ones who typically will be the problem solvers with support from the staff which is a part of the process in systems thinking. Based on what I have learned about my leadership style so far, I am a thinker and consultant. I definitely will play a role in systems thinking as I am always looking
for ways to assist in solving problems and implementing improvements.
