HIS 100 Module Five Activity Template: Historical Interpretations Replace the bracketed text below with your responses. Identify the topic you chose to explore: Tulsa Massacre Describe how exploring your research question improved your understanding of the historical roots of your current event. I could go into more depth into what happened, why it started, and what it was like for the people who lived through the event. Their point of view is essential when the event's history is being told. My question was influenced by how much information the survivors had, and it was not being taught in school, and those stories and experiences were never being told. They are a part of our nation's history and deserve to be acknowledged just as much as any other historical event. Explain how biased perspectives influence what is known about both your historical and current events. Bias perspectives of an event can be remarkably endless due to social media and different available media outlets. Historical events like this one show that White Americans are the culprits and are fueled by racial hate, which can be compared to several incidents that have happened recently, like BLM incidents. Propose how the narrative about your historical event might change if it were told from a missing perspective. If the information was given by the missing perspective of the White Americans, it could be a completely different story. Still, it was also added to what we know and what we believe happened and started the event in the first place. Propose how the narrative about your current event might change if it were told from a missing perspective. · The narrative would drastically change because with all the different views we have today line “cancel culture,” I believe the entire historical event would end up in the category of canceled because everyone already sides with one side, and the biases of what happened would cause even more strife between both communities but also with third party bystanders.
