What if - Before his death, Robert was invited to join the members of his bike
club in attending a bike convention in another city. They were all going to fly together and stay at the convention hotel. Before Robert made his reservations what information would he need to gather to ensure a successful trip?
By the way Robert did attend the convention and had a great time!

If Robert was invited to join the members of his bike club in attending a bike convention in another city, before making his reservations there is some information that he will most definitely need to gather in order to ensure he has a successful trip. Considering the fact that Robert and the other bike club members would be flying the first step that Robert would have to take in
order to ensure that his trip is successful would be to contact the airline and let them know that he has a disability. Due to the fact that I am in a wheelchair myself and I recently flew for the first-time last week to Vegas for
my birthday I know from personal experience that I had to contact the airline
in advance and let them know that I was disabled so that upon boarding the plane there was assistance there. Crew members helped me on the plane by using an aisle chair as well as transporting me to my seat for me. This is information that will be useful to Robert so that he has these accommodations made readily available to him. Also, before making his reservations he would need to ensure that whatever hotel he is going to be staying at is up to code with their ADA accommodations. Under the ADA the hotel would need to have equal access to facilities which include hotels (module 4 PowerPoint, slide 5). Information that he would need in order to ensure that his hotel stay is successful would be ensuring that the hotel had elevators, an accessible pool with the pool lift chair, and a room that is big enough to accommodate a wheelchair as well as the shower being accommodated. As we learned in this module from the "Race the Tube video and Race the Tube in a Wheelchair" the man in the wheelchair was not able to complete the race because the underground station did not have step free
access to accommodate individuals in wheelchairs (Race the Tube in a
Wheelchair). As stated in the video "only 25% of London underground stations have step free access". To prevent an issue like this from happening
to Robert it will be important for him to gather information regarding the accessibility in the particular city that the bike club will be traveling to. He could plan ahead and figure out accessible routes that he could take as well as activities that he would be able to participate in due to their accessibility levels in that particular city.
