Discussion Thread: Recording Behaviors Challenging Classroom Behavior In the middle school setting, the inappropriate use of technology  is very common. The inappropriate use of technology in the classroom can be a challenging behavior for several reasons as is being a distraction, a disruption, a form of cheating, and even to be used to cyberbully. In today's world, majority of our schools use Chromebooks instead of textbooks. Being on a Chromebook all day at school gives students the opportunity to use and access the internet. While Chromebooks are being used, I see students off tasks playing games, sending emails back and fourth, and even sitting on video chat during classes. Here in my school system, we use an app called Go Guardian. Go Guardian is an educational platform that gives educators the ability to manage and monitor students' activities on school-issued devices. Teachers can see what students are doing on their devices, share content, and control access to certain websites. If I see a student of task, I can close out that tab and send a message saying "Please stay on task". I can also apply a "scene" where I have blocked websites like YouTube, Roblox, Google Meet, etc. that students can not access during the time period of my class. Go Guardian has features designed to identify and alert schools to potential signs of self-harm or suicidal behavior based on students' online activities Strategy Counting is a way for teachers to determine whether the target behavior is working or not, this practice helps determine if the intervention is actually effective (Maag, 2018). Frequency   recording , like tallying, involves the count of the number of times a targeted behavior is occurring. Implementing a behavior tally system involves keeping a record of each instance of inappropriate technology use by marking a tally for each occurrence. This can be done discreetly by the teacher, with a simple mark on a chart or digital device (Jasper et al., 2015). The behavior tally system is a straightforward and non- disruptive method for counting instances of inappropriate technology use. It allows the teacher to maintain an ongoing record without drawing excessive attention to the behavior. This strategy is appropriate for any grade level, including older students, as it respects their maturity and avoids potential embarrassment. The simplicity of the tally system also makes it adaptable to various classroom environments. Tallying this challenging behavior for an 8th grade student can be effective as it provides quantifiable data, objective tracking and documentation, visual representation, behavioral trends and accountability, goal setting, and parental environment. Usually if I have a student constantly off task on the internet, I use School Status to text their parents to let them know about the situation. Bible Verse A verse that I can refer to with this challenged classroom behavior is Proverbs 22:6 as it states, "Train a child in the way he should go; even when is old he will not depart from it" (LifeChurch, 2024).  This verse can emphasize the important of early guidance and instruction. Applying this principle to the inappropriate use of technology can help educators stablish clear classroom expectations, promote accountability, teach digital citizenship, and implement consequences.    References Jasper, A.
