Caleb Logan walks into High Field High School’s grand hall entrance and looks around him. There are students sitting on benches talking and laughing and students sitting at tables noses buried deep in textbooks, books, and homework. Some students looked like the cool kids in leather jackets and hair all done. He quickly scanned the crowd again looking for his best friends Lilliana and Sebastian. Caleb’s eyes lingered on a boy in the crowd of cool kids and saw him coughing and hacking. His eyes

couldn’t imagine working where there wasn’t any children. When I was a child, I played school any chance I got. I loved pretending to be a teacher and helping my friends with their homework. My ideal job is in a small community. I love the hometown feel and the closeness and values that they share. For my field experience, I am observing in a second grade classroom in a small community. The community is made of five schools. The town is composed of one grocery store, a few places to eat, and several small

My field placement is at a public school in an urban setting right outside of Philadelphia. The student body is just shy of 300 students, largely compromised of minority students. Furthermore, almost one third of the student body is visually impaired. I work in a mixed classroom of second and third graders all of whom have varying degrees of visual impairments. When I started there were nine students, but one student recently joined our class, so the class has grown to ten students. Two of these
Sixty minutes. A field hockey team has sixty minutes to prove that it worked longer, faster, and harder than the opposing team. The countless amounts of effort, time, sweat, and pain all pays off during those sixty minutes. Practice is close to indescribable; after the warm up run, we sprint. After we sprint, we do drills. If we don’t sprint in the drills, we do more sprints. Summing it up simply, the running is intense and extensive. The practices are long and hot, and the expectations for performance
Entering high school was not exactly something I was looking forward to because school had always been difficult for me as I struggled to stay focused in the strictly structured learning environment. Although I had to study longer and harder than many of my peers, I remained committed to making good grades and putting forth my best effort. Fortunately, my outlook regarding school changed when I developed an interest in the Medical field. During my sophomore year my mom tore her ACL and MCL, and the
When I learned field experience was a requirement for the Foundations of Education Class, I was quite nervous because I did not feel prepared to go into a classroom at that time. I felt that if were to go into a classroom, I would have no idea what to expect and I had wanted to learn more about being a teacher prior to going into a classroom. However, once I was told I could go to an organization such as Hephzibah, I immediately knew I would want to volunteer there. Hephzibah is an afterschool daycare
describing my field observation site and its goal as a school. I then am going to talk about the specific classroom I was placed in and what I’ve learned as a whole. I describe my experiences and observations and its relation to what I’ve learned in theory from the educational course I took this semester. My main focus is going to be on pedagogy, classroom management, and cultural diversity in the school. Field experience site My field experience site was at the World Language Academy, it is a school located
