In 1977 the Blythe Jaycees donated what was then the Blythe Fairgrounds to the State of California. The Fairgrounds became the 54th District Agricultural Association and has been operated by the State and a Governor Appointed Board of Directors for the past 25 years. State resources were used to provide a new electrical, sewer and water system in 1977 and in 1978, the Exhibit Hall was built. By 1981, RV pedestals for food vendors were created, with the building of the Livestock Barn by 1982. Food
On my first time going through the simulation, I decided to settle at the red X entitled Bay Island. I chose this spot because it will be protected inside the bay. Although we may be attacked by the Spanish, I believe that the bay will provide adequate protection. A Native American chief accused me of invading his land. To avoid a conflict, I decided to offer a trade. Fortunately, this action caused us to avoid conflict with the Native Americans, hopefully beginning a fruitful relationship.
The Journey of Barlow, Sanderson, and Co. A lone yellow stagecoach tracks across the Missouri sands, pulled by two exhausted, well groomed horses. The sharp crack of a whip is heard, and shouts of “Giddyup!” echo from the coachman. Inside, a passenger sits patiently, a stack of mail and goods beside him. A cloud of dust rises up behind the coach, and the constant motion of the wheels kicks up small rocks that fly like bullets. Before the brisk expansion of railroads in the West
1917, in the town of Olean, New York. Growing up in Torrance, California, Zamperini ran track at Torrance High School and discovered that he had a competitive streak a mile wide when it came to long-distance running. In 1934, Zamperini set the national high school mile record, and his time of 4 minutes and 21.2 seconds would stand for an incredible 20 years. His track prowess also caught the attention of the University of Southern California, and he earned a scholarship to attend. It wasn’t long before

Home Omaha, Nebraska is a beautiful city, but my heart belongs to Los Angeles, California. There are some beautiful places here in Nebraska. We have beautiful lakes, hiking trails, the Iowa-Nebraska bridge downtown, and we actually get all four seasons here. But, I feel like nothing will ever compare to California. First of all, in California, you could hike, surf, ski, and ride dune buggies all in the same day! There are so many trails and canyons to hike, so many beaches to sun bathe, and so much
My National Park is Great Sand Dunes in Colorado. I think that it is the most valuable because there is a great diversity of habitats and animals there. Alpine Tundra is the highest ecosystem at Great Sand Dunes. The conditions are too harsh for trees to live there, but wild flowers, pikas, marmots, ptarmigans, and bighorn sheep live happily in these challenging conditions. The dune field with the tallest dunes in North America spreads across 30 square miles. These dunes are a place of extremes;
However, one of the issues was that even though the benchmark system assisted agencies understand their direction, a lack of explicit budgetary support hindered the fulfilment of respective agencies’ plans (Ford 2000). A similar issue was also raised by Young (2009) as he mentioned that the Oregon Benchmark system constantly struggled to secure its funding needs. Leichter (2002) also highlighted that the process of linking agencies’ programs with benchmarks were often symbolic and in some cases agencies
