In fact, Canada, as well as many other countries have already taken action to rid their nation of the need for their lowest valued currency. Meanwhile, in America, our one cent coins are losing their value while causing other prices to rise. To discontinue the minting of these coins would mean better prices
and enjoyed collecting loose change to save up for toys. Kids would cherish even a single penny to add to their collection. However, with inflation and the increase in credit transactions, pennies are becoming ineffective. Pennies cost the government unnecessary amounts of money to produce, harshly impact the environment, and are not practical to use. Pennies waste precious taxpayer dollars every year.
