    In the Odyssey, Penelope, the wife of Odysseus, while mourning the loss of her husband had to endure the endless pursuit of the many suitors who sought her hand in marriage with the intent of ruling all of Ithaca. Penelope was a great wife because she was smart, faithful, and clever.
