This paper explores the pain management of an older adult. Is the pain being managed or are there areas that need to be improved. Pain is a controversial issue, especially when it comes to pain in the older adult. There are researches that prove pain is not as prevalent in an older adult and then there are researches that disagree with that and say that pain is just as prevalent in an older adult as in any other person. Pain is a subjective matter; no two people have the same perception of pain.
During the retirement module in class we talked about the discrimination against the older population. One main idea many people have against the older population is their ability to work or do anything physical after they retire.
