The disappearance of Natalee Holloway, an 18-year-old graduate of Mountain Brook High School in Birmingham, Alabama left many unanswered questions. On May 26, 2005, Holloway and 124 fellow graduates traveled to Aruba for a five-day, unofficial graduation trip. The graduates were accompanied by seven chaperones. Bob Plummer, who was a chaperone on the trip stated the chaperones met with the students each day to ensure nothing was wrong. Jodi Bearman, who organized the trip, stated, "The chaperones

My place of employment, Mountain Brook City Hall, is located in one of the most beautiful cities in Alabama. In fact, the City of Mountain Brook has been named “Tree City USA” by the Arbor Day Foundation for the past 20 years (ICMA, 2014). The residents enjoy a safe environment (Safe Choice, 2014) and the employees benefit from a fiscal responsible City Council that doesn’t take a salary. While there is no perfect working environment, Mountain Brook City Hall‘s atmosphere is very relaxed which
Communication can come in various forms. A person can write, speak, or even use American Sign Language to communicate. Within communication itself, there are various styles used and ways to receive feedback. The Cascade mountain air scented of fresh pine in the mild 55 degree weather as we made the short walk from our cars to the trailhead. We had worked for months previous to this, hiking our local trails every Tuesday and Thursday with an expansive hikes every Saturday. We knew that all the training had led up to the moments would soon follow, this was it . We checked and double checked our overly packed gear as we were Boy Scouts and began on our long trek ahead. The initial portion of the hike included
The Secret Chord Reading The Secret Chord A Novel by Geraldine Brooks was like reading about the biblical character King David for the first time. Author Ms. Brooks brought King David’s character to life. As I read, I hardly realized that the novel is over five-hundred pages. Brooks carefully built upon the biblical story of David. What I appreciate is that Brooks did not omit information rather she expanded on the facts colorfully and creatively. Some of the expansion is based on theory. However
Surprisingly, in some areas along the many miles and ranges we traveled to stop, some looked even more burned out than others did, then some areas looked untouched where some areas almost next door on another turn seemed destroyed. Many areas along these mountains were eerily quiet. It felt chilling and creepy. Yet, it was peaceful and still I could find beauty in the death that occurred. Later, the Rim Fire was investigated and found to have been caused by a careless hunter, one man and his idea to start

Snowmobiling on Priest Mountain In late May I never pictured myself carving a highmark on Priest Mountain. Priest Mountain is nestled on the east edge of the Grand Mesa National Forest. Deep sugary snow and feathery blue spruce trees cover the mountain and the area around. One fine day it occurred that I had the opportunity to carve my highmark and I still I have the mental image of my territory after that day. Even before that day, Priest has left a impression on me. Priest Mountain, for me, has been
