Purpose The purpose of this virtual lab is to observe the acid-base balance in the urinary system by how PCO2 and blood pH affect the H+ and HCO3- in the urine. The renal compensation is a mechanism that shows the kidneys manage to change pH in correct way if the respiratory system is not healthy. The kidneys are two organs that help remove wastes and extra fluids out of the body. The acid-base balance is when the blood need to keep the balance of acidic and basic so the functions of the body can
The information above shows the results observed from the experiment. The unknown substance was first observed to be a white, powder that had no smell. When it was mixed with the water, it produced a clear odorless solution. The pH was taken immediately from the solution once it was mixed properly. The pH came out to a 10 on a 14 level scale. This indicated that the solution was a strong alkaline base. With this information, the list of possible solutions are narrowed down to only basic solutions
alkalosis is an increase in the body’s amount of bicarbonate. When the body loses too much hydrogen from the body, and/or retains too much bicarbonate, this issue can occur. Metabolic acidosis is an occurrence during which there is an increase in acids or a decrease in bicarbonate.
action of abounding biomolecules, abnormally proteins. Therefore, buffers are frequently acclimated in active bacilli to advice advance a almost abiding pH. In humans, for example, buffers act to advance claret pH amid 7.35 and 7.45 even admitting acids and bases are always getting added to and removed from the claret as it campaign through the body. The 3 capital absorber systems in our bodies are the bicarbonate absorber system, the phosphate absorber system, and the protein absorber system.
Energy Story, Hands-On Science with Squishy Circuits, and Conducting Solutions all have one important similarity: they all explain how electricity works! These three sources explain very different things, but they always end up coming back to the main objective of electricity. Energy Story explained how atoms function, and how they, as a whole, are passed through circuits to create electricity. Conducting Solutions explains how liquid solutions including Ammonia and Vinegar are stronger together
The Eco feeder is an all in one pet food dispenser. My product allows the user complete control over their pets diet. With this product it gives the user the opportunity to dispense pet food, pet treats, and filtered water. The Eco Feeder is also synced with an application which can be downloaded both on android and apple devices. The application is free to download. With this application it will display graphs and percentages showing how many treats and how much food remain in the dispenser. Also
The primary goals of this experiment concern expanding upon the concept of molar mass and its applications to the study of chemistry (Beran, 2014). To this end, the effect of an unknown solute on the freezing point of a solvent, cyclohexane, was measured and noted in order to determine a positive or negative relationship between the two variables (Beran, 2014). Additionally, the molar mass of the nonvolatile and nonelectrolyte solid solute was ascertained (Beran, 2014). Introduction: When one examines
considered as a base. The chemical formula for hydrochloric acid is HCl and it has a ph of 2 and is considered as an acid. The chemical formula of ammonia is NH3 and it has a ph of 8 and is considered as a base. The chemical formula of sodium chloride is NaCl and it has a ph of 7 and is considered aa a base. The chemical formula for deionized water is H2O and has a ph of 7 and is considered neutral. The 7up had a ph of 3 and is considered as an acid. The Maalox had a ph of 8 and is considered as a base
Results This lab compared two different streams against each other from a biological, physical and chemical bases. From this lab we are able to see the differences and similarities as well as the differences between each streams. For the Tippecanoe river there was a total of 20 organisms, 7 from the upstream transect and 13 from the downstream transect. This differed from Cherry creek have a total of 209 organism. This total was split a 110 down from upstream and 99 from the down stream transect
1. Explain how an acid and a base are distinguished and how the pH scale operates as a logarithmic function. An acid and base are distinguished by the negative hydrogen concentration in a substance. If a substances loses its hydrogen concentration, it is more acidic. If a substance accepts more hydrogen, it is considered a base. The pH scale operates as a logarithmic function because the value changed 10x or greater. A pH of 3 is 10x more acidic than a substance with a pH of 4. 2. Explain what
