In 1978 on the campus of Florida State University a study was done in which the results would seem obvious to us today. If you were a female or male on campus during this time you may have been approached and told "I have been noticing you around campus. I find you to be attractive. Would you go to bed with me tonight?" If you were a male in the study you probably would have thought it was truly a gift from God. But it is simply too good to be true. The experiment was led by a psychologist named
After completing my bachelor’s degree at Florida State University in the fall of 1997, I began my career at a small hospital in Largo, Florida. I started on a thirty eight bed cardiac/telemetry unit. I had the fortunate opportunity to orient with a seasoned nurse who loved her career in nursing. She was an enthusiastic preceptor that not only educated me on the tasks of nursing but inspired and introduced me to critical care and critical thinking. I spent the next three years at this hospital

My excitement became overpowered by the fear of starting a new journey all while attempting to find myself, my dreams and my future. As I reflect on the experiences that I have encountered through the leadership, service and international engagement areas, I have seen immiscible growth in myself as a student and a leader. The Garnet and Gold Scholar Society program has provided me

While looking through the list of characteristics to write about, one jumped out at me and I instantly knew what I was going to write about. Learning is my passion in life and the reason I want to attend Florida State University is so that I can pursue that passion. Gathering new knowledge has been, and always will be, the most important part of life for me Ever since I was young, and began my education, learning was one of the most exciting ideas to me. On September 24, 2014, I attended the first multicultural event of my graduate career at Florida State University. The Japanese Tea Ceremony was held in the Center for Global Engagement Auditorium from 5-7pm on a Wednesday. Upon entering the auditorium, I was handed a program detailing the ceremony format (Usu-cha Tana-temae). The program had three different types of languages displayed: English, Hiragana/ Katakana and Kanji. Having no prior knowledge of what a tea ceremony entails, I was excited

me”-type articles out there, but I wanted to make my own piece. Moving away from home this school year to attend a university turned out to be a lot different than I imagined. While attending the Early College Program back home in high school pushed me two school years ahead of my peers was great (financially and time wise), it has made my “freshman experience” here at Florida State University, a very different experience than any other freshman would go through. The pressure amounted on my shoulders sometimes
to see which programs or projects would be budgeted and which ones would not. The factors that the department must analyze were how the programs or projects supported the mission and strategic plan of the university, how they created costs for the university, and how they benefited the university.
