We had just performed on front of a crowd of about 80 people. Upstairs, listening to the jazz music from other schools we were very tired, it has been a long Friday and it was 10:00 in the afternoon. We were dancing to the jazz music alone, smiling, and the only thing coming out of our mouth was laughter, and the imitation of the vibrant sounds coming from the shining trumpets on the stage below us. The Jazz Festival in Oak Harbor was amazing, even though I didn’t hang out with a lot of people, but

My first Jazz concert was a faculty Recital by the members of CCNY. The band that was playing was called the Pittson Family Band. There was a total of six songs and in this essay I plan to discuss what I heard during the concert. The first song was called “At the Fair” by Luciana Souza. The song started off with a
On Tuesday, September 26, 2017, I attended my first college concert and first jazz concert of my life. I attended a jazz combos concert with five different ensembles. The concert consisted of both undergraduate and graduate students. The concert was performed in Russell Hall in Bengtson Auditorium. Bengtson Auditorium is a lovely auditorium that allows the sound and or music to flow throughout the entire room. The five ensembles played anything from two to three pieces each giving you a better idea
For the University Activity Assignment, I decided to go to something I would most likely enjoy, so Devin and I chose the Afro-Cuban Jazz Ensemble! After going to the Creative Arts building with Devin, we decided to try and catch them practicing early and that didn’t work because they kicked us out and forced us to sit in the hall for 20 minutes. After finally getting let in, the show started with a bang and although I didn’t recognize any of the songs, from what I could understand (I don’t speak
I enjoyed a wonderful jazz concert on Saturday night, to an audience about eighty people. Most of the audiences were college students and elders and it was not hard to tell that everyone was expecting this concert very much. At about 8:20pm, the concert started. Kei Akaji, the pianist and composer, introduced himself and his friends to the audience humorously and briefly. Then, 4 instruments assemble were gathering in the center of the stage and 10 wonderful jazz pieces was presented. Each piece
If you did not make it out to see The Jazz Ensemble on Tuesday, Apr. 19th, then you really missed out on a great evening of music. Family, friends, and jazz lovers nearly filled the Anne R. more than 11 concerts the adrenaline of being on stage would have died down a bit. It hasn't. I've danced since I was 3 and every time I go onstage the rush is the same. Concert has always been the biggest event in May. I love it almost as much as the last day of school. Concert 2016 was my favorite out of all the years that I’ve danced. I wake up and immediately start getting ready for concert. Getting ready consists of my mom trying to do a dutch braid while I do my concert makeup. I hear
I attended the Baylor University Concert Jazz Ensemble directed by Alex Parker on Tuesday, November 10th. This ensemble consisted of saxes, trombones, trumpets, drums, a piano, and bass. The concert showcased many individual talents by including solo’s or duet’s in every song. The program consisted of seven songs with no intermission. The pieces I selected were “Big Dipper” by Thad Jones and “Undecided” by Frank Mantooth. The composition “Big Dipper” by Thad Jones consisted of a duet by Hunter
On March 30th, 2017 I attended a wonderful jazz concert at Prince George’s Community College. The concert was performed by a group titled The Reginald Cyntje Group. The Reginald Cyntje Group was comprised of five talented musicians: Herman Burney, Reginald Cyntje, Lenny Robinson, Brian Settles, and Hope Udobi. The group performed a song cycle of seven songs: “The Rise of the Protester,” “Ballad for the Masses,” “Chant of the Revolt,” “Descension and Ascension,” “No Justice No Peace,” “The Piece of
