On September 7th at 7:30pm, I attended the Chamber Music Trio Concert at Williams Hall. The three musicians were the cellist Dr. Martin Gueorguiev, the violinist David Harned Johnson, and the pianist Dr. Joanna Kim. In total, they performed four pieces, two duets and two trios, one of which was an original composition by David Johnson himself. Their pieces included a wide range of styles, from upbeat majors to dark, emotional minors and from standard classical to zesty tangos. Having played the piano
Wheeler Concert Hall at the University of Evansville hushed as the conductor tapped his baton on the music stand in front of him. Raising both hands in the air, scanning the performers of the orchestra to make sure everyone had their instruments in place and appeared ready, he took a quick breath to cue the orchestra to start playing. Out of the many concerts that I have attended throughout my lifetime, especially since becoming a music student studying music, this particular concert was different
Keris Cho - 7th Ms. Perina Period 5 Concert Orchestra 10/20/15 Music is a huge part of my life and very important. Music is my safe place. Something to keep me calm, happy and focused. As a matter of fact, I’m listening to music as I type this. Music is important, and learning about it will just make you appreciate it even more. If you try to compose a piece yourself, you’ll probably appreciate composers a lot, it takes talent to compose something and actually make it sound good. Music education
The first question I asked myself at the beginning of the quarter was how much do I actually know about jazz? I have always characterized jazz music as a rhythmic and instrumental form of music. My impression on the basis of the jazz has always been portrayed with the African-American race. I think this was build up from the rhythm ‘n’ blues era and meaning according to the dictionary (“style of music that was invented by African American musicians in the early part of the twentieth century and has
part that is smooth. The Melody was without a doubt dramatic because in the song its talks about a woman being attacked.Harmony was good it started out with one cello playing then the other joined in when it got soft. I did very much enjoy this concert because Cellos are beautiful instruments and they sound beautiful. I enjoyed all the pieces that were played some more then others, but that's due to the fact that I knew them songs and it surprised me when an orchestra played songs that i listen
I attended a concert on the 16th of November at 7:30 in the evening at the Olive DeLuce Fine Arts Building to watch the Northwest Jazz and Studio Jazz Ensembles perform. Both ensembles performed a variety of songs generally under the jazz genre, featuring artists studied in the course, including Duke Ellington, Count Basie and George Gershwin. Some of the songs performed by the ensembles included “La Almeja Pequena,” “Count Me In,” “Rockin’ In Rhythm,” and “I’ve Got a Crush on You.” Although there

changed by music?” She responded, “ I had a student join in 6th grade who lacked self confidence and didn't have many friends. By the end of 8th grade, she was a section leader, made All State Chorus twice, taught and directed a song at the winter concert. She is now majoring in music education and wants to be a chorus teacher!” This shows that chorus can have a lifelong impact on students. After evaluating student’s responses, it is important to recognize that teachers and directors have different
Fall Concert Review At 7:30 P.M. on October 17th, the Sartell Wind Ensemble performed in the Sartell High School gymnasium. The three pieces that the Sartell band played were Imaginarium, Buenaventura, and Baba Yetu. Imaginarium is a dream like program piece and it resembles a person imagining or daydreaming. Buenaventura is a world Latin piece and it begins with a slow Latin beginning and then it featured an up tempo finish. Baba Yetu was performed by the Wind Ensemble and with the Sartell choirs
The band that I went to see was the Shapiro Brothers. The band consists of two siblings, which includes a singer and a powerful guitarist. The lead singer is a female and the lead guitarist is a male. The concert/live music took place at the Louisiana Jazz Kitchen (Kansas City, Mo), which is a restaurant that is based off Louisiana soul food. I am a regular customer at this restaurant, therefore I am familiar with the bands that come to give a show, expect the Shapiro Brothers. Unfortunately, I know
