Chapter 9.3, Problem 5CC
Summary Introduction
To determine: The effect on pH of CSF if the concentration of H+ ions in cerebrospinal fluid is higher than that in the blood.
Introduction: Human brain contains a small region between the middle membrane (arachnoid mater) and pia mater. This region is known as subarachnoid space. This space contains an important fluid known as cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). The cerebrospinal fluid plays several important functions that help in the normal functioning of the brain.

How does an increase in the CO2 concentration in theblood affect the pH of cerebrospinal fluid?
Hydrocephalus occurs when CSF accumulates in the ventricles and passageways of the brain. Assuming that CSF production isnormal, propose reasons for the accumulation of the fluid.
