Chapter 38, Problem 1A

What is a model? Give two examples for the nature of light.

Expert Solution & Answer
Check Mark
To determine

The definition of the model and the two examples for the nature of the light.

Explanation of Solution

Introduction:

The model is the set of the rules which are based on the certain hypothesis and experiments. It is used to understand a specific type of the problem but various results obtains from the model are used for guidelines of other models. The visual representation of the rules is used for easier understanding of the model.

Two examples for the nature of light are based on the particle nature and wave nature of the light. The photoelectric effect describes that the light interacts with matter like a stream of particles. The photons of the light behave as the particle in the photoelectric effect. The light behaves like a wave when it passes through vacuum space. The electromagnetic effect of the light is the example of the wave nature of the light.

Conclusion:

The model is the visual representation of the rules for solving some problem and two examples for the nature of the light are photoelectric effect and electromagnetic effect of the light.
