Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

Look up the physical properties of several of the compounds which will be making in chemistry lab from several different places on the Internet, do you believe them all to be correct or not is to be explained.

Concept Introduction:

Properties of Organic Compounds:Organic compounds are those whosechemicalformula have at least one carbon atom, and often contain a hydrogen atom as well. The bonds formed between the carbon and hydrogen atoms to form a hydrocarbon arevery strong and the resulting compoundis often essential to living things. They show characteristics of covalent compounds like they have low meltingand boiling points and generally insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents.

Answer to Problem 1E

No, not all thephysical properties of several of the compounds which will be making in chemistry lab from several different places on the Internet are correct.

Explanation of Solution

Physical properties of compounds typically of interest include both quantitative and qualitative features. Quantitative properties include melting point, boiling point, index of refraction, etc. and qualitative properties include odor, consistency, solubility, and color, etc.

Values of physical properties are slightly different, on different websites. For example, boiling point of benzoic acid on Wikipedia is 250℃ while on chemfinder its 249℃.

Thephysical properties of several of the compounds which will be making in chemistry lab from several different places on the Internet are notexactly same but values of theses physical properties slightly varies.
