During the early growth of embryo a concentration gradient of transcription factor occur due to which an area is created where genes are transcribed without transcription. Anterior posterior concentration gradient occurs because of maternal genes because it is a well known fact that phenotypic characters of embryo are expressed by mother’s genotype.
