Concept Introduction:
The active steroids that are secreted by endocrine glands produce at one part and respond at different parts of the organism and these active steroids are termed as hormones. One of the types of hormone is sex hormone and in females, these are estrone and progesterone.
Estrone is produced in ovaries and regulates the sex characteristics that are developed in females and normalize the menstrual cycle. Progesterone is a pregnancy hormone that prepares uterus for fertilized egg.
