Chapter 10, Problem 3TYC
Summary Introduction
Introduction:
Fast glycolytic fibers are the fibers that are rich in enzymes for anaerobic fermentation. Fast glycolytic fibers respond quickly and fatigue more easily than slow oxidative fibers. Fast glycolytic fibers are poor in mitochondria, myoglobin and blood capillaries and therefore, it processes independent of oxygen and is relatively pale in color when compared to slow oxidative fibers. These fibers utilization is important in sports that require stop and go activity and frequent change of pace such as basketball. Biceps brachii of the arm, muscles of eye movement contain fast oxidative fibers mainly.
