You'll need a small ½  Dixie-sized cup of sweetened lemonade powder for each person participating in your experiment. Instruct your participants to moisten the tip of their index finger and then to dip it into the powder and then onto their tongues whenever you give a prearranged signal (such as raising your arm).  Also inform your participants that you will occasionally say the words "test trial" instead of giving the signal; when this occurs, participants should refrain from tasting the powder and instead close their eyes for a second. Present a CS (i.e., say the word "Pavlov") and then after a delay of .5 to 1.5 seconds, give the signal (raise your arm), your participants should now taste the lemonade powder. These learning trials should be repeated every 10 to 15 seconds for 2 minutes. Then introduce test trials (in which you say,  “Pavlov” … (delay .5) “test trial", without raising your arm) occurring after every 10 learning trials.  After each test trial, ask for a show of hands for those who are salivating (the majority of participants should be salivating by the 7th or 8th trial).   When most your participants show evidence of conditioning, demonstrate extinction by continuously giving test trials (i.e., saying "Pavlov...test" trial over and over) until your participants no longer salivate.  Now wait a few hours, demonstrate spontaneous recovery by saying the word "Pavlov" and asking your participants if they salivated.
