You have been assigned to arrange the songs on the cassette version of the famous music band, Nirvana’s latest album. A cassette tape has two sides (1 and 2). The songs on each side of the cassette must total between 14 and 16 minutes in length. The length and type of each song are given in the table below. The assignment of songs to the tape must satisfy the following conditions.

length.
b) Each song must be assigned to exactly either one of the sides.
c) Each side must have exactly two ballads.
d) Side 1 must have at least 3 hit songs.
e) Either song 5 or song 6 must be on side 1.

- Create a weighted scoring model to determine grades for a course. Final grades are based on three exams worth 20 percent, 15 percent, and 25 percent, respectively; homework is worth 15 percent; and a group project is worth 25 percent. Enter scores for three students. Assume that Student 1 earns 90 percent (or 90) on every item. Assume that Student 2 earns 70 percent on each of the exams, 80 percent on the homework, and 95 percent on the group project. Assume that Student 3 earns 90 percent on Exam 1, 80 percent on Exam 2, 75 percent on Exam 3, 80 percent on the homework, and 70 percent on the group project.arrow_forwardThere are two companies manufacturing drones. Company A manufactures mass market drones, while company B manufactures customised drones according to customers’ requirements. In 2020, company A produces 3,200 drones, 3% of which were found to be defective and cannot pass the quality check. Company A employs 5 workers working an average of 8 hours a day in the drone production, and they worked 200 working days in 2020.In contrast, company B produces 900 drones, 10% of which were found to be defective and cannot pass the quality check. Company B employs 3 workers working an average of 6 hours a day in the drone production, and they worked 170 days in 2020. (a) If the drone manufacturing is seen as a process, what is considered as the output of the production processes of companies A and B and why? (b) Measure the single-factor manpower productivity for the two companies. (c) Is it reasonable to compare the manpower productivity of the two companies and reach a conclusion that one company…arrow_forwardSlider A moves in the horizontal slot with a constant speed v = 1.71 m/s for a short interval of motion. - Mangement Project management is the discipline of planning, organizing, motivating, and controlling resources to achieve specific goals and objectives within a specified time frame. It involves identifying project requirements, defining scope, establishing timelines, allocating resources, and managing risks. Project managers oversee the execution of projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and according to quality standards. Effective project management requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and stakeholders' needs. It is crucial for achieving project success and delivering value to stakeholders. Question: How does project management contribute to organizational efficiency and effectiveness?arrow_forwardScenario You are going to plant a rectangular flower bed consisting of tulips in the middle surrounded by daisies on the outside. You have the same amount of each flower and will need an equal area for each. You want the border of daisies to be uniform around the tulips in the middle, as shown in the diagram below:arrow_forwardSome citizens complained to city council members that there should be equal protection under the law against the occurrence of crimes. The citizens argued that this equal protection should be interpreted as indicating that high-crime areas should have more police protection than low-crime areas. Therefore, police patrols and other methods for preventing crime (such as street lighting or cleaning up abandoned areas and buildings) should be used proportionately to crime occurrence. The city has been broken down into 20 geographic areas, each containing 5,000 residences. The police recognize that not all crimes and offenses are reported: people do not want to become involved, consider the offenses too small to report, are too embarrassed to make a police report, or do not take the time, among other reasons. Every month, because of this, the police are contacting by phone a random sample of 1,000 of the 5,000 residences for data on crime. (Respondents are guaranteed anonymity.) The 1,000…arrow_forward

The firm has just received an order of 53,000 units from Southernstar Exploration Company for $48 per unit. North Platt can manufacture the shaft at $18 per unit. Southernstar desires the diameter of the shaft to be 1.278 cm. The diameter of the shaft must not be less than 1.253 cm in order to fit properly inside the sleeve. To be able to insert the shaft into a sleeve without the use of force, the diameter cannot be larger than 1.303 cm. A defective shaft is discarded and a replacement has to be shipped via express freight to locations around the world. North Platt estimates that the average cost of handling and shipping a replacement shaft will be approximately $38. Shown below are the diameters from a sample of 100 shafts manufactured during a trial run: Diameter 1.235 1.243 1.253 1.261 1.265 1.273 1.275 Number of Units 2 3 4 3 3 4 7 Diameter 1.276 1.277 1.278 1.279 1.280 1.283 1.291 Number of Units 7…arrow_forward
