Why are moral panics dangerous?
Why are moral panics dangerous?
Social influence and manipulation is a very common phenomenon, like for example when someone while passing us comments on our dress then we tend to get highly affected and make sure not to repeat that dress ever again. Social influence also applies in matters of superstitions, like if we see someone stopping in the middle of the road after seeing a cat cross the road we also tend to do the same thing despite declaring at all times that "I do not believe in superstitions and all".
Thus, we should remember that the correct decisions lie in our hands, and whether we will get influenced or not that is also in our hands, hence we should behave like rational individuals and think practically and do whatever we think is good for us and not just fall into the traps of social manipulation blindly.
