who do Marxists and Weberian sociologists see to blame?

Expert Solution
Introduction

The ideologies and perspectives of Karl Marx and Max Weber stand in opposition to one another. Thus their viewpoints vary on each aspect of society. These classical sociologists gifted two unique sociological perspectives for the coming generation of students, teachers, and sociologists to follow or build upon.

Explanation

Marx and Weber shared perceived a capitalist society differently. Therefore, Weberian and Marxian sociologists have a different notion of capitalism and its drawbacks. The following sentences will shed light on the same:

  • Marx was completely against the idea of capitalism because of its consequences. Capitalism will lead to class-based social stratification, oppression of a social class by the other, the economy would be driven by the surplus labor of the working class. The consumer culture, ideological imbalance, power imbalances, inequalities, and the material economy are criticized by the Marxian sociologists. As these represent the manifestation of the interests of capitalists or dominant groups in society.
  • Weber did not completely reject or opposed capitalism. Instead, he pointed out the downside of capitalism. The formal rationality diffused in a capitalist society would place logic and reason above everything. He argued a rationalized society will lead to disenchantment and thereby making individual prisoners to their own reason. Weberian sociologists would assess the power dynamics in a capitalist society and how it impacts social relations and institutions. The rationalized society would be blamed for replacing traditions, spirituality, and mystification.
