When the body is in a state of "dis-ease" the systems in our body do not function the way that they do when we are in a state of "ease". In a study of two adult twin sisters age 54, Beth and Mary, scientists were trying to understand why these twins had very different body weights and why Mary was suffering from a gastrointestinal disease yet her sister was healthy. They studied the healthy twin (Beth) to see if they could learn anything about her sisters disease from studying her.
