Which of these scenarios suggests that a multiple treatment reversal design might be appropriate (select all that apply)? a. A teacher wants to determine whether a new class programme for teaching reading skills can be used to improve reading skills of children with autism spectrum disorder. b. Participant's performance on a ball-throwing task is unstable during initial baseline. O c. Therapist wants to test whether two types of interventions interact in their effect on patient's behaviour. Od. Client's compulsive skin-picking behaviour is not being sufficiently reduced by the originally planned intervention.

Expert Solution
Introduction

A multiple treatment reversal design is a single-subject research design. In a multiple-treatment reversal design, the baseline phase is followed by distinct phases in which different kinds of treatments are provided. For example, a psychologist may establish a baseline of behavior for someone suffering from insomnia (A). Then, this is followed by a treatment (B), after which, the psychologist switches to another treatment (C). The subject is then returned to the baseline phase (A). Then, the treatments are reintroduced in a reverse order so as to control carryover effects.

The multiple-treatment reversal design is also known as the ABCACB design.
