CHRISTIAN MORALITY
Justin Martyr, a convert to Christianity, was martyred berween A.D. 162 and 167.
He is most remembered for his response to charges thar Christians were immoral
and disloyal to the emperor. In the following selection from First Apology, Justin
recounts essential moral principles adopted by Early Christians.
For we warn you in advance to be on your according to the good advice bf Christ, to the
end that they may share with us the same joy-
ously accused should deceive you and divert ful hope of a reward from God the Master of
all. But lest we should seem to deceive, we
consider it right, before emnbarking on our
promised demonstration, to cite a few of the
