What two characteristics of capacitor enable them to help enable voltage spikes and surges?
The voltage spikes and the voltage surge is sudden increase in the magnitude of the voltage for the very short period, the time period approximately in nano-seconds.
The characteristics of the capacitors:
1. Limiting the effect of the current:
Whenever the voltage spike or voltage surge is occurred, the time period of the occurrence is in nano-seconds which states that the frequency is very high.
Since, the capacitive reactance is inversely proportional to the frequency, which states that when the frequency is too high the impedance provided will be too less which will allows all the current to flow through it by which the other equipments and loads are protected.
