Introduction
In human body digestion is carried out in digestive tract which is comprises of mouth, stomach, small intestine, large intestine and associated organs such as pancreas, gall bladder, liver etc. In our body the digestive process is assisted by biochemical enzymes. Enzymes are the molecules mainly protein in nature which increase the rate of reaction by lowering down the activation energy.
Several enzymes which digests the complex molecules into the simpler one such as Proteases, lipases, DNase etc. Proteases such as Pepsin, chymotrypsin helps in protein digestion these enzymes are secreted by pancreas. Lipases helps in digestion of lipids there are two types of lipases present in the human pancreatic lipase and Intestinal lipase secreted by pancreas and Intestine respectively. Amylase enzyme present in our saliva helps in digestion of starch.
