What is the interphase?
Interphase is the stage in the life cycle of a cell where the cell grows and DNA is replicated. It is the longest stage in the eukaryotic cell cycle.
Interphase has three stages the first gap phase (G1), the synthesis phase (S), and the second gap phase (G2). The purpose of interphase in all cell types is to prepare for cell division, which happens in a different stage of the cell cycle.
G1-phase:
The first stage of interphase is called the G1 phase. During the G1 stage, the cell is quite active and grows as well as accumulates the building blocks of chromosomal DNA and the associated proteins as well as sufficient energy reserves to complete the task of replicating each chromosome in the nucleus.
