What is sporogenous tissue?
Introduction
Plants usually have two types of life cycle 1) Gametophytic life cycle
2) Sporophytic life cycle
The plant usually undergoes into Gametophytic life cycle during the favourable conditions then the plant produces gametophyte which in turn produces male and female gametes respectively. But when the conditions are unfavourable the plants prefers to go into sporophytic life cycle where it produces spores. Spores can withstand with adverse environment and can stay live for longer duration. When the favourable condition returns they turn into new plants.
Sporogeneous Tissue: this is a group of tissues which contain spore mother cells surrounded by the layers of tapetum, endothecium and epidermal layers. Spore mother cells which are diploid undergo meiosis and produce haploid spores. In female plant it is called mega-spore mother cells while in male plants it is called as micro-spore mother cells.
