What is human security? How is it different from the concept of national security? (Just a paragraph)
And then a response to this statement:
According to Blanton and Kegley (2021), "human security is a concept that focuses on individuals (as distinct from states) from threat." This concept differs from national security in that it national security focuses on territorial security, armed conflict, and the ability to resist or protect from armed attacks. The state is the more important than the people.
Human security, though, focuses on human needs, which are defined as "basic physical, social, and political needs, such as food and freedom..." (Blanton and Kegley, 2021).
For example, a state of the art military would be an example of national security. Increasing clean water supplies for developing countries would decrease water borne illnesses, therefore increasing quality of life, would be a way to improve human security.
