Johannes Gutenberg began his experimentation with printing in Strasbourg, France in 1440. He came to Mainz in Germany  by 1450 and had a printing press formed and prepared to be used commercially. Printing press was the machine through which text and pictures are transferred from movable sort to paper by means of the ink. It was a remarkable discovery and led to the spread of the print revolution in Europe in the upcoming centuries.
