What are the Effect of Foundation Installation below Finished Grade?

Expert Solution
Check Mark
Step 1

The foundation is an important element and most critical for any structure as it transfers the load of the structure to the Earth. It may consist of a footing, wall, raft slab, pier, pile or combination of these elements; depending on the design parameters, requirements and on-site conditions. The installation of the foundation is generally done on or above the soil grade as it is least affected. However, in case of foundation installation below the finished grade of soil, certain measures are taken to mitigate the effects.
