Question

What are the compatibility requirements for the body?

Expert Solution
Step 1

Compatibility term is encountered in continuum mechanics where it generally stands for the study of the different conditions for which any displacement field is guaranteed. In continuum mechanics, we generally assume that the body is continuous without having any considerable gaps or voids. When these bodies are deformed certain mathematical conditions have to be satisfied such that there should not develop any gaps/voids/overlaps while deformation process. These mathematical conditions are called compatibility conditions and such bodies are called compatible bodies.
